INTRODUCTION: Urethral diverticulum (UD) is a saccular dilatation of the urethral wall, continuous with the true urethral lumen. It is categorized etiologically into congenital and acquired. The etiology of an acquired urethral diverticulum is thought to be secondary to trauma. The gold standard imaging modalities for diagnosis of UD are retrograde urethrogram (RGU) and micturating cystourethrogram (MCU). Management options include: nonoperative treatment, minimally invasive and open surgeries...

BACKGROUND: In order to overcome the challenges of lesion detection in capsule endoscopy (CE), we improved the YOLOv5-based deep learning algorithm and established the CE-YOLOv5 algorithm to identify small bowel lesions captured by CE. METHODS: A total of 124,678 typical abnormal images from 1,452 patients were enrolled to train the CE-YOLOv5 model. Then 298 patients with suspected small bowel lesions detected by CE were prospectively enrolled in the testing phase of the study...

The urachus is a tubular structure that is apparent on the third week and connects the ventral cloaca to the yolk sac, as a progression from the allantois. Following the normal regression procedure, the urachus remains as the median umbilical ligament. Urachal remnants are present in 1.03% of paediatric patients while in 92.5% of cases represent incidental findings. Urachal anomalies are classified in four types as patent urachus (50-52%), urachal sinus (15%), urachal cyst (30%) and urachal diverticulum (3-5%)...

Epinephric diverticula are distal esophageal pouches protruding from the epithelial lining of the esophagus while esophageal leiomyomas are benign smooth muscle lesions that constitute a significant percentage of all gastrointestinal leiomyomas. Epinephric diverticula and esophageal leiomyomas are common individually but their co-existence is rare. Moreover, they present asymptomatically but can occasionally present with complains of dysphagia and weight loss. In this paper, we present a 58-year-old Asian man with three months history of indigestion and progressive weight loss...

BACKGROUND Meckel's diverticulum is a congenital remnant of the omphalomesenteric duct and is the most common congenital gastrointestinal malformation. Most patients are asymptomatic, but a rare presentation is with subacute small bowel obstruction (SBO) due to herniation of bowel loops through an internal hernia formed by the Meckel's diverticulum and adjacent mesentery that forms an internal hernia. This report is of a 15-year-old girl presenting as an emergency with vomiting and small bowel obstruction due to an internal hernia associated with Meckel's diverticulum...

The conformation of spinal arachnoid diverticula (SAD) and their clinical implications are poorly characterized in dogs. This retrospective cross-sectional study describes different SAD conformations in dogs and aims to identify if there is an association between SAD conformation and clinical features, localization, syringomyelia (SM) presence, concurrent vertebral condition, treatment option, and short as well as long-term outcome. Sixty-two dogs were included (12 cervical and 50 thoracolumbar SAD). All dogs with a cervical SAD had a cranial tethered conformation and were not included in the statistical analysis...

Pulsatile tinnitus (PT) is the perception of an auditory sensation without an external source and in synchrony with the heartbeat. One of the most common cases of PT is bony anomalies of the sigmoid sinus, including dehiscence or diverticula. This case report describes a 26-year-old female patient who presented with pulsatile tinnitus caused by sigmoid sinus diverticula and dehiscence, which was successfully treated with cortical mastoidectomy with diverticula closure using pedicled temporalis fascia and resurfacing of the dehiscence with autogenous bone pate along with bone cement...

Bladder duplication and congenital bladder diverticulum are rare anomalies. We described two boys with rare bladder anomalies found on prenatal ultrasounds. Postnatal investigations and surgical findings confirmed these bladder anomalies. The malformation was associated with other system anomalies. This report of pre- and postnatal imaging with surgical correlation contributes to our understanding about these rare bladder anomalies.

Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital anomaly of the gastrointestinal tract (Lequet et al., 2017). It results from incomplete obliteration of the vitelline (omphaloenteric) duct. Observed diverticulum complications include inflammation and perforation, hemorrhage and obstruction (Kawamoto et al., 2015). We are reporting on a case of Meckel's diverticulum revealed by acute intestinal obstruction.

We present the case of a 33-year-old patient with a rare combination of a right-sided aortic arch and occluded asymptomatic aberrant left subclavian artery diagnosed after the coincidental finding of an interarm blood pressure difference. Because there were no symptoms of local compression or subclavian steal, conservative management was suggested.

Background : The complications associated with Meckel's diverticulum (MD) are well-known. However, blunt injuries regarding MD have not been widely described in the literature. This was the reason for undertaking research on MD lesions. Materials and Methods : The materials consisted of 28 cases of damage to MD after blunt trauma published during the years 1921-2022. The collected data were subjected to statistical analysis. Results : The following MD injuries have been identified, starting with the most common isolated perforation of MD, bleeding from the area of MD, perforation of MD with concomitant tearing of the mesentery intestines and bleeding, intussusception of MD, and intramural hematoma of MD with adjacent mesenteric hematoma...

The medical records of these ten client-owned dogs with SAD diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were reviewed. All patients had chronic and progressive deficits. At presentation, common neurological signs were proprioceptive ataxia, ambulatory spastic paraparesis or tetraparesis, and faecal incontinence...

A 4-month-old Domestic Shorthair cat with no clinical signs was referred for further examination of a heart murmur. An echocardiogram revealed marked right atrial dilation, extending into the left hemithorax. Computed tomography angiography was conducted to investigate further, which revealed a balloon-shaped, contrast-filled cavity on the cranial and left side of the chest that connected to the right atrium through a narrow passage. This was diagnosed as a congenital right atrial diverticulum. Treatment included clopidogrel to reduce the risk of thrombus formation...

INTRODUCTION: Sigmoid sinus diverticulum (SSD) has been increasingly reported as a cause of pulsatile tinnitus (PT). While both endovascular and surgical treatments have been used, there is a lack of consensus on the treatment modality to treat SSD. We conducted a systematic review of the available literature to compare the clinical outcomes and safety of endovascular versus surgical approaches for treating SSD. METHODS: A systematic review was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses to identify studies encompassing the management of SSD...

Synchronous primary neoplasms of Meckel's diverticulum and colon malignancies are rarely reported in the literature. We present three patients with synchronous primary neoplasms of Meckel's diverticulum and colon malignancies. All tumors located in Meckel's diverticulum were incidentally found at laparotomy and the definitive diagnosis was made with microscopic examination of surgical specimens. Synchronous primary neoplasms of Meckel's diverticulum and colon malignancies are rarely encountered. Moreover, this is the first case of synchronous colon cancer and pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PanIN) arising from pancreatic heterotopia within Meckel's diverticulum...
