Cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) remote transmissions are an integral part of longitudinal follow-up in pediatric and adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) patients. To evaluate baseline CIED remote monitoring (RM) data among pediatric and ACHD centers prior to implementation of a Pediatric and Congenital Electrophysiology  Society (PACES)-sponsored quality improvement (QI) project. This is a cross-sectional study of baseline CIED RM. Centers self-reported baseline data: individual center RM compliance was defined as high if there was > 80% achievement and low if < 50%...

BACKGROUND: Although electrophysiological (EP) centers have institutional standards, evidence on management of cardiac tamponade is lacking. AIM AND METHODS: A physician-based survey was conducted by sending out questionnaires to all hospitals in Germany performing EP procedures. To evaluate the infrastructure of EP centers and the impact of center volume and onsite cardiac surgery on the management of cardiac tamponade, the results of the survey were analyzed for low-volume (0-250 procedures per year), mid-volume (250-500 procedures), and high-volume (>500 procedures) centers, as well as for centers with and without onsite cardiac surgery...

With the advent of novel cancer therapeutics and improved screening, more patients are surviving a cancer diagnosis or living longer with advanced disease. Many of these treatments have associated cardiovascular toxicities that can manifest in both an acute and a delayed fashion. Arrhythmias are an increasingly identified complication with unique management challenges in the cancer population. The purpose of this scientific statement is to summarize the current state of knowledge regarding arrhythmia identification and treatment in patients with cancer...

Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is highly prevalent in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients and associated with reduced response to rhythm control strategies. However, there is no practical guidance on testing for OSA in AF patients and for OSA treatment implementation. We sought to evaluate current practices and identify challenges of OSA management in AF. A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed with a content-validated survey to evaluate OSA management in AF by healthcare practitioners. Survey review, editing, and dissemination occurred via the European Heart Rhythm Association and the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions and direct contact with arrhythmia centres...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: This scientific statement provides an interprofessional, comprehensive review of evidence and recommendations for indications, duration, and implementation of continuous electro cardiographic monitoring of hospitalized patients. Since the original practice standards were published in 2004, new issues have emerged that need to be addressed: overuse of arrhythmia monitoring among a variety of patient populations, appropriate use of ischemia and QT-interval monitoring among select populations, alarm management, and documentation in electronic health records...

BACKGROUND: Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) offer lifesaving therapies but can become burdensome at the end of life. Many ICD patients choose to implement a do-not-resuscitate/do-not-intubate (DNR/DNI) order. When hospitalized, patients are seen by a range of clinicians whose beliefs about ICD management in DNR/DNI patients may vary. OBJECTIVE: To assess clinician opinions on managing ICDs in DNR/DNI patients and stratify it by specialty and training level...
