This work aims to rapidly detect toxic alkaloids in traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) using laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (LDI-MS). We systematically investigated twelve nanomaterials (NMs) as matrices and found that MoS2 and defect-rich-WO3 (D-WO3 ) were the best NMs for alkaloid detection. MoS2 and D-WO3 can be used directly as matrices dipped onto conventional ground steel target plates. Additionally, they can be conveniently fabricated as three-dimensional (3D) NM plates, where the MoS2 or D-WO3 NM is doped into resin and formed using a 3D printing process...

Ischemic stroke is a common type of stroke, but effective treatment methods are still imperfect and new effective therapies need to be explored. Radix Aconiti Coreani and Rhizoma Typhonii used as Baifuzi in the treatment of stroke or symptoms associated with stroke have been recorded in ancient Chinese books and are widely used. Modern pharmacological studies have demonstrated that both of them have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether Radix Aconiti Coreani and Rhizoma Typhonii have therapeutical effects on gerbils with ischemic stroke, to investigate their potential mechanisms of action, and to provide a reference for rational clinical application by comparing the differences between them...

This study aims to explore the core connotation of the compatibility of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata(Fuzi)-Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma(Gancao) herb pair under physiological and pathological conditions. The biochemical indicators of serum/myocardial tissue, pathological changes of the myocardial tissue, and serum metabolic profiles of normal rats and heart failure model rats treated with Fuzi Decoction and Fuzi Gancao Decoction were determined. Network pharmacology and metabolomics were employed to establish the metabolite-target-pathway network for Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma in enhancing the efficacy and reducing the toxicity of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, Western blotting was employed to verify the representative pathways in the network...

The automation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) pharmaceuticals has driven the development of process analysis from offline to online. Most of common online process analytical technologies are based on spectroscopy, making the identification and quantification of specific ingredients still a challenge. Herein, we developed a quality control (QC) system for monitoring TCM pharmaceuticals based on paper spray ionization miniature mass spectrometry (mini-MS). It enabled real-time online qualitative and quantitative detection of target ingredients in herbal extracts using mini-MS without chromatographic separation for the first time...

In recent years, some traditional herbal compounds containing Fuzi have achieved positive clinical results in tumor treatment. And the polysaccharide isolated from Fuzi has attracted much attention as a potential immunomodulator. However, its immunomodulatory mechanism remains to be further studied. Aim of the study. Gambling disorder in youth is an emerging public health problem, with adolescents and young adults constituting a vulnerable age group for the development of gambling-related problems. Although research has been conducted on the risk factors for gambling disorder, very few rigorous studies can be found on the efficacy of preventive interventions in young people. The aim of this study was to provide best practice recommendations for the prevention of disordered gambling in adolescents and young adults. We reviewed and synthesized the results of existing RCTs and quasi-experimental studies covering nonpharmacological prevention programs for gambling disorder in young adults and adolescents...
