UNLABELLED: Castleman disease is rare diagnosis. It was first mentioned in literature in 1954 by doctor Castleman and Lown. It is rare sickness which primary affects lymfatic nodes. There are four histo-morfologic subtypes and two clinic manifestations (uni and mulicentric). Comon clinical picture is simple lymfadenopathy of neck, medistinal a retroperitonal lymfatic nodes. Signs of this disease are heterogenic and depend on histological subtype. Also prognosis depends on type of illness...

PURPOSE: To evaluate the role of CT in identifying other morphological signs of metastatic lymph node involvement from non small cell bronchogenic carcinoma. This is done to improve N staging, a critical step in this disease. In fact, since diameter is the only criterion used to distinguish normal form abnormal lymph nodes, medistinal CT only has 80% diagnostic accuracy. MATERIAL AND METHODS: 137 patients with known or suspected lung cancer were examined with Helical CT during early and late arterial phases (2 min delay, 3 mm thickness, 5 mm interslice gap) to depict node characteristics...

OBJECTIVES: Systematic lymph node dissection in radical operation for lung cancer is recognized as an operative procedure which is expected to improve local control. We investigate the most effective method of lymph node dissection or sampling. METHODS: A retrospectrive study was carried out on 1815 patients who underwent systematic lymph node dissection and complete resection. The lymphatic route of metastatis from each lobe was investigated by examining which nodes had the most likelihood of metastasis, or to find out which is the sentinel lymph node in the case of small sized tumor, suitable for the video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) approach...

In this paper we describe a convenient procedure for use with fine-needle biopsy in the diagnosis of lung and medistinal tumors. Cells obtained from a fine-needle aspiration are suspended in a formaldehyde solution and allowed to sediment onto a polycarbonate filter, using a filtering device specially designed for this purpose. The filter with the aspirated cells is then embedded in paraffin and thereafter sectioned and stained in a routine manner. The main advantages with this technique, instead of cytology, are: 1...
