Minichromosome maintenance complex component 2 (MCM2) is a member of the MCM family and is involved in various cancers. However, the role of MCM2 in endometrial cancer (EC) remains unclear. In this study, we aim to determine the biological function of MCM2 in EC cells and identify the potential underlying mechanisms. MCM2 expression and prognostic significance were analyzed in TCGA-UCEC datasets. Combining bioinformatics analyses and experiments, stemness-related molecules and phenotypes were examined to evaluate the impact of MCM2 on stemness in EC cells...

Existing evidences have revealed the crucial roles of E2 promoter binding factor-1 (E2F1) during the tumorigenesis and progression process of multiple human tumors. However, the expression patterns, biological functions, as well as the underlying molecular mechanism of E2F1 in endometrial carcinoma yet remain largely unclear. The expression patterns and clinical prognostic value of E2F1 in endometrial carcinoma were evaluated using bioinformatics methods. Protein and mRNA, miRNA expression levels in tissues and cells were measured using immunohistochemistry, western blotting, and qRT-PCR assays...

Most endometrial cancers (EC) are diagnosed at an early stage with a favorable prognosis. However, for patients with advanced or recurrent disease, the chemotherapy response rate and overall survival remain poor. A novel in vitro model, tumor organoids, has important value in providing a more individualized treatment plan for tumor patients. However, the slow growth of the established EC organoid seriously hinders the application of EC organoids. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), the main component of tumor stroma, have been reported to promote the proliferation of endometrial cancer cell lines and primary endometrial cancer cells in vivo and in vitro...

Endometrial cancer (EC) is a malignant tumor of the female reproductive tract. Due to its rapid growth and invasiveness, EC is currently the only gynecological neoplasm with rising incidence and mortality rates. It is of great significance to explore the metabolomics signature of stage I and II EC for the diagnosis and treatment. A mass spectrometry-based untargeted metabolomics approach was used to explore preoperative serum metabolites in the normal and stage I and II EC patients. The metabolites were mapped to the Ingenuity pathway analysis (IPA) database to determine the potential biomarkers and metabolic pathways that differ between EC patients and healthy controls...

BACKGROUND/AIM: Ovary is the organ of the female reproductive system most commonly affected by metastases. The aim of the study was to determine the frequency and features of metastatic ovarian tumors (MOT) depending on the site of the primary malignant tumor. METHODS: The study group consisted of 488 patients with histopathologically confirmed ovarian cancers treated at the Clinic of Oncology, Clinical Center Nis, in the period from 1 January 1998 to 31 December 2005...

A case of poorly differentiated endometrial sarcoma with clear cell features in a 46-year-old female is presented. A 9 x 8 x 6 cm, transmural, white solid tumor in the uterine fundic wall was characterized histologically by infiltrative growth and a solid arrangement of tumor cells with clear cytoplasm. The tumor showed vascular invasion, moderate to severe cellular atypia, mitotic activity of 20 per 10 high-power fields and necrosis. It was immunohistochemically positive for vimentin and negative for CAM5...

UNLABELLED: The question in the study was whether radiotherapy of women with neoplasma of genital tract leads to coagulation activation. The study group consisted of 51 women with cervical carcinoma (20 cases), endometrial carcinoma (22 cases) or ovarian neoplasma (9 cases). Fractionated dose of ionic energy were applied as follows: 200 cGy per day, 5 days a week, therapeutic dose of 4,500-5,000 cGy. Five coagulological tests were used. Hypercoagulability was found out prior to radiotherapy: statistically significantly elevated level of fibrinogen and higher thrombin-antithrombin III complexes (TAT) than in the control group...

OBJECTIVE: An epidemiologic study of coexistence uterus myoma with endometrial cancer patients is presented. Coexistence of endometrial carcinoma with uterus myoma was evaluated and controlled for age, residence, civil status, education, parity, menarche age, last menstruation age, length of reproductive period, blood group, hypertension, diabetes, body mass index, sterility, histological subtype, grading, staging. DESIGN: From 1984-1998 136 endometrial carcinomas have been evaluated in the Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics in Hospital of Słupsk retrospectively...

In our study we estimated the uses of transvaginal ultrasonography in the diagnostic of endometrial carcinoma. There was noted that the most characteristic symptoms of this neoplasma in USG is the thickening of the endometrium and the absence or distortion of "central echo" (imaging of the endometrial cavity). We confirmed the co-existence of common epidemiologic factors of carcinoma endometrium too.

62 women with histologically proven corpus uteri neoplasia were examined to estimate accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of TVS in assessing myometrial invasion and cervical involvement of the disease. Incorrect ultrasound interpretation were found in 9 cases (14.5%). Accuracy rate was 88.7% in myometrial infiltration and 93.5% in cervical invasion. The sensitivity of TVS in detecting the level of myometrial invasion was 96% and in cervical spread was the same. The specificity of this method in proper estimation the myometrial infiltration was 91% and in cervical involvement 95%...

We checked on the validation of vaginal ultrasound parameters to detect endometrial neoplasma by apposing the histological and sonographical data of 232 patients with postmenopausal bleeding. An endometrial height of more than 4 mm proved a good preliminary fact to screen for pathological findings (sensitivity: 94.9% for endometrial cancer and 84% for benign and malignant neoplastic lesions). The low specificity (53%) of this threshold value can be increased by including morphological parameters like inhomogeneous structure, irregular demarcation and lack of an endometrial middle echo...

A rare case of two concomitant primary uterine neoplasmas in a 64-year-old patient who had received conjugated estrogens for the 3 preceding years is presented. Müllerian adenosarcoma, heterologous type, with stromal components suggestive of rhabdomyosarcoma, and adenocarcinoma of endometrium, were localized in different sites of the endometrium with no intermingling between them (combination tumor). The diagnostic and therapeutic problems are discussed.
