Intestinal tuberculosis is less common than pulmonary tuberculosis. Its clinical and endoscopic features are nonspe-cific, so diagnostic suspicion must be high in order to make an early diagnosis and prevent iatrogenia. Pharmacotherapy is often effective, with an excellent clinical and endoscopic evolution. Surgical treatment is reserved for complications. We present the case of cecal tuberculosis diagnosed endoscopically; this is the second case diagnosed in a few months in our center. In this case there were no risk factors, such as recent travel, risk of contacts or inmunosupression...

We report one case of dermatomyositis and one of polymyositis refractory to several conventional inmunosupressive therapies, which present a response after treatment with rituximab, enabling steroid dose reduction and a prolonged remission.

Behçet's disease (BD) is a systemic vasculitis, with a more aggressive course in young males. Orogenital ulcers, uveitis and cutaneous lesions are the most frequent manifestations. We analyzed the effects of adalimumab on six patients with BD pretreated with inmunosupressive therapy, two of whom had received infliximab. We observed a good clinical response in all patients. To date, after a mean follow-up of 26.8 months, patients continue receiving adalimumab, with good clinical control, no adverse effects have been reported with adalimumab...

Peritoneal vasculitis is a rare and severe clinical manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus. We report a patient who presented with ascites due to peritoneal vasculitis and cutaneous, articular, hematological and renal inflammatory activity. Treatment with glucocorticoids and immunosuppressive drugs was ineffective. In view of the resistance to different therapies, 4 weekly infusions of 375mg/m2 of rituximab (RTX) were started, in association with cyclophosphamide pulses during the first and the third weeks...

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: Organ transplant is nowadays a usual and succesful practice, although with limited application due to the lack of organs. Yearly thousands of patients get access to the waiting list and finally will death while they are waiting for an organ. In the U.S.A., 2005 waiting list for kidneys, heart, liver lung and pancreas was around 94.419. Number of transplants performed was 27.966 and died patients while waiting for an organ, 41.392 (1). Pig xenotransplant is one of the possibilities to ameliorate the lack of organs for transplant...

The micotic aneurisms by Aspergillus are rare and usually appear in the context of an invasive pulmonary aspergilosis, or by septicum embolism or direct extension from the lungs, for that reason the location the more frequents is in aortic arch and the ascending aorta.8 cases of micotic aneurisms by Aspergillus spp. have been described in literature between 1966 and 2000, being the most frequent location the ascending aorta or the aortic arch. The Aspergillus fumigatus is the isolated species with more frequency, affecting mainly to patients undergoing inmunosupression...

Cystic lesions at the midline of the prostate are uncommon and they are considered as congenital disorders. Is generally accepted that active treatment should be instituted only in symptomatic patients and watchful waiting in asymptomatic ones. The most common active treatment is minimally invasive surgery by puncture-aspiration or endoscopic unroofing. We are attaching an inmunosupressed patient because of a renal transplantation in which we provided an active treatment by puncture-aspiration of the cystic lesion in spite of being asymptomatic...

BACKGROUND. Toxoplasmosis is an opportunistic infection reported in several groups of inmunosupressed patients. It is considered uncommon in patients with lymphoproliferative disorders and in bone marrow transplant recipiets (BMT). Nevertheless, recent reviews have reported cases of cerebral and disseminated toxoplasmosis in BMT recipients, particularly among patients with IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma sp. prior to BMT and antineoplastic treatment. PATIENTS AND METHODS. Two cases of toxoplasmosis are reported of patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma who did not have graft-versus-host-disease and with positive antitoxoplasma serologic response...
