UNLABELLED: The purpose of this study is to present the first case of a pure 'topiramate maculopathy' without acute glaucoma and/or myopia, which form the classical syndrome. DESIGN: Interventional/observational case report. SETTING: Institutional University Teaching Hospital. PATIENT: A 22-year-old American female, after taking 100 mg of topiramate (Topamax®) a day for 6 days because of a migraine attack, complained of severe visual acuity deterioration of sudden onset in both eyes, regardless of distance (far or near), during the span of 1 day...

Hypothalamic control of eating functions can be affected by different physiopathologic events or injuries. A case report of an individual with a mass in the third ventricle is presented. Neuropsychiatric manifestations included hyperphagia, agitation, and cognitive impairment. Pharmacological intervention with topiramate (Topomax(®), Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceuticals) helped the hyperphagia and agitation better than other agents tried. Possible mechanisms of action of this agent are discussed.

TOPOFIT-DB (T-DB) is a public web-based database of protein structural alignments based on the TOPOFIT method, providing a comprehensive resource for comparative analysis of protein structure families. The TOPOFIT method is based on the discovery of a saturation point on the alignment curve (topomax point) which presents an ability to objectively identify a border between common and variable parts in a protein structural family, providing additional insight into protein comparison and functional annotation...

Similarity of protein structures has been analyzed using three-dimensional Delaunay triangulation patterns derived from the backbone representation. It has been found that structurally related proteins have a common spatial invariant part, a set of tetrahedrons, mathematically described as a common spatial subgraph volume of the three-dimensional contact graph derived from Delaunay tessellation (DT). Based on this property of protein structures, we present a novel common volume superimposition (TOPOFIT) method to produce structural alignments...
