INTRODUCTION: In testicular cancer, late relapse of teratoma with somatic-type malignancy is rare and associated with a poor survival. A case of retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis of teratoma with somatic-type malignancy 18 years after initial treatment for testicular cancer is reported. CASE PRESENTATION: A 46-year-old man had a 15-mm-sized mass in the para-aortic region 18 years after initial treatment for testicular cancer, without elevated serum alfa-fetoprotein or human chorionic gonadotropin levels...

Inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) is a rare disease that requires a differential diagnosis from malignancies. We describe a case of hepatic IPT with para-aortic lymphadenopathy, treated with a stepwise strategy of laparoscopic surgery. A 61-year-old woman was referred with a liver lesion. Computed tomography revealed a 13 cm well-defined lesion in segments VII-VI. The patient also had bead-like enlarged lymph nodes from the perihilar to the para-aortic regions. Although percutaneous lymph node biopsy showed no evidence of malignancy, 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography revealed accumulation in the lesion and lymph nodes...

BACKGROUND: Late recurrence of gastric cancer at 10 years post-gastrectomy is extremely rare, and the underlying mechanism remains unclear. We report a para-aortic lymph node metastasis case that recurred 12 years postoperatively. CASE PRESENTATION: A 44-year-old woman pathologically diagnosed with moderately to poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma with pT2(SS)pN2cM0pStageIIIA according to the Japanese Classification of Gastric Carcinoma (the 13th Edition) underwent laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with D1 + lymph node dissection...

Since sentinel lymph node mapping in endometrial cancer is becoming more widely used, the need of standardizing surgical technique is growing [1, 2]. The objective of this surgical video is to describe the procedure of two-step pelvic and para-aortic sentinel lymph node mapping using indocyanine green and fluorescent camera in endometrial cancer, in three versions of surgical modality of laparoscopic, robotic, and open laparotomy. The patients in the surgical video are diagnosed with biopsy-proven endometrial cancer in its early stage determined by the preoperative imaging study...

Primary ovarian mesothelioma (POM) is a rare malignant tumor with poor prognosis. Although anaplastic lymphoma kinase gene (ALK) double-fusion partners have been found in various tumors, it is rarely reported in mesothelioma. In this article, we describe the coexistence of a novel STRN-ALK, neurobeachin (NBEA)-ALK double-fusion in a patient with primary ovarian mesothelioma. A 30-year-old woman was found to have pelvic masses for more than a year. Color Doppler ultrasound showed mixed mass in the left ovary and multiple solid masses in the right ovary...

OBJECTIVE: To show dissection of sentinel lymph nodes. DESIGN: A step-by-step demonstration of the technique with narration. SETTING: Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common gynecologic malignancy worldwide. Sentinel lymph node biopsy with indocyanine green (ICG) has become more widely used and has been featured in recently published guidelines for EC [1]. Minimally invasive approaches with the sentinel lymph node concept (conventional laparoscopy, laparoscopic-assisted vaginal surgeries or robotic) to EC staging have resulted in lower rates of peri- and postoperative complications than conventional staging procedures [2]...

UNLABELLED: Colectomy for colorectal cancer after an open aortic replacement (OAR) for abdominal aortic aneurysms has high perioperative complication and mortality rates. CASE PRESENTATION: The authors report the case of an 87-year-old man who underwent laparoscopic sigmoidectomy. The patient presented with edema of the lower legs and face, and blood test results indicated anemia. The patient had a history of OAR for an abdominal aortic aneurysm 9 years prior, a left common iliac artery aneurysm, and a jump bypass graft...

Since the advantages of robotic surgery and laparoscopic surgery in the number of lymph node resections are not well understood, this meta-analysis used evidence-based medicine to assess the difference in the number of lymph nodes retrieved in gynecological cancer between the two surgical methods to guide clinical treatment. In the present meta-analysis, the Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang libraries were searched for articles that were published from the time of the database's inception to January 2021, including cohort studies and randomized controlled trials, where the observation group underwent robotic surgery to treat gynecological cancers and the control group underwent laparoscopic surgery to treat gynecological cancers, including cervical and ovarian cancers and endometrial cancers...

BACKGROUND: The lateral pelvic sidewall is a major site of local recurrence after radical resection of rectal cancer. Salvage lateral pelvic node dissection (LPND) may be the only way to eliminate recurrent lateral pelvic nodes (LPNs). This study aimed to describe the technical details of robotic and laparoscopic salvage LPND and assess the short-term clinical and oncological outcomes in patients with recurrent LPNs who underwent salvage LPND by a minimally invasive approach for curative intent...

BACKGROUND: Benign metastasizing leiomyoma (BML) is a rare disease usually observed in women of reproductive or premenopausal age with a history of uterine myomectomy or hysterectomy. The most common sites of metastases are the pulmonary, and other sites include heart, bones, liver, lymph nodes, bladder, skeletal muscles, and central nervous system. Here, we report a case of a 50 year-old woman with a history of hysterectomy who was initially suspected of uterine sarcoma but was finally confirmed to have BML with lung and lymph node metastases, and discuss the treatment and prognosis of BML...

A 78-year-old man was diagnosed with a liver tumor on follow-up CT after thoracic aortic aneurysm surgery. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed a type 2 tumor in the gastric antrum, a biopsy showed poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma, and CT revealed multiple liver metastases, resulting in a diagnosis of clinical Stage ⅣB(cT4aN0M1[HEP]). S-1/oxaliplatin (SOX)chemotherapy was started. However, after 9 courses of chemotherapy, the primary tumor continued to increase in size. Ramucirumab/paclitaxel(RAM/PTX)was started; after 3 courses, CT revealed shrinkage of the primary tumor and disappearance of multiple liver metastases...

INTRODUCTION: In several solid tumors, fibroblast activation protein (FAP) is overexpressed by cancer-associated fibroblasts in the tumor microenvironment. Preliminary evidence suggests that detection and staging are feasible with PET/CT imaging using [68Ga]-radiolabeled inhibitors of FAP also in cervical cancer (CC). Chylous ascites is an uncommon complication after surgery that can result in malnutrition and immunodeficiency. Therefore, surgical interventions are reserved for refractory patients, and the primary success factor for these interventions is locating the point of leakage, which is often tricky.
