Change of direction (COD) maneuvers in soccer create tactical advantages, but also expose the player to an increased risk of injury. COD ability is commonly tested with pre-planned drills including cuts greater than 90°. These tests do not take into consideration positional differences players encounter during games. This case-series study used principal component analysis (PCA) to examine situational differences during COD movements between playing positions in youth soccer games. For each of the four teams included (26 females, 27 males), one game was analyzed using video-analysis...

We present the first comprehensive tests of the universality of the light leptons in the angular distributions of semileptonic B^{0}-meson decays to charged spin-1 charmed mesons. We measure five angular-asymmetry observables as functions of the decay recoil that are sensitive to lepton-universality-violating contributions. We use events where one neutral B is fully reconstructed in ϒ(4S)→BB[over ¯] decays in data corresponding to 189  fb^{-1} integrated luminosity from electron-positron collisions collected with the Belle II detector...

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the development of widespread vaccination strategies, there have been case reports in the adult literature suggesting an increase in thyroiditis after COVID-19 vaccination. We herein describe 2 children who presented with thyroiditis after COVID-19 vaccination. Two children who received Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 messenger RNA vaccines later developed symptoms of thyroid hyperactivity, had positive thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI) levels and received treatment directed toward Graves disease...

Individuals actively maintain attentional templates to prioritize target-matching inputs. While previous works have established that multiple templates can be held simultaneously, current understanding is limited with respect to the representational quality of such templates. We thus investigated: (a) whether the maintenance of two templates is limited to broad, coarse-grained representations, and if not, (b) whether there is nonetheless a decline in the achievable level of specificity when multiple attentional templates are held simultaneously...

We report the first search for a nonstandard-model resonance decaying into τ pairs in e^{+}e^{-}→μ^{+}μ^{-}τ^{+}τ^{-} events in the 3.6-10  GeV/c^{2} mass range. We use a 62.8  fb^{-1} sample of e^{+}e^{-} collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider. The analysis probes three different models predicting a spin-1 particle coupling only to the heavier lepton families, a Higgs-like spin-0 particle that couples preferentially to charged leptons (leptophilic scalar), and an axionlike particle, respectively...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The poor mental health of adults living in aged care needs addressing. Improvements to nutrition and exercise are important, but mental health requires a psychological approach. Self-determination theory finds that autonomy is essential to wellbeing while experiences of being controlled undermine it. A review of existing quantitative data could underscore the importance of autonomy in aged care, and a review of the qualitative literature could inform ways to promote autonomy and avoid control...

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality among immunocompromised hosts, including transplant recipients. Antiviral prophylaxis or treatment is used to reduce the incidence of CMV disease in this patient population; however, there is concern about increasing antiviral resistance. Detection of antiviral resistance in CMV was traditionally accomplished using Sanger sequencing of UL54 and UL97 genes, in which specific mutations may result in reduced antiviral activity. In this study, a novel next-generation sequencing (NGS) method was developed and validated to detect mutations in UL54 / UL97 associated with antiviral resistance...

Background: Obesity is a risk factor for adverse outcomes during and following pregnancy. Most women are advised to lose weight prior to becoming pregnant, to help alleviate complications including prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety. Yet, no studies have examined how the process of losing weight prior to pregnancy interacts with the development of prenatal and postpartum mental health disorders. The objective of the study was to determine if women with pre-pregnancy weight loss (≥10%) vs. those who do not, in the two years prior to pregnancy, have a lower risk for new onset prenatal and postpartum mental health conditions Methods: This retrospective cohort study used data from the Virtual Data Warehouse of a large Midwestern, U...

We present the first measurement of the ratio of branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic B-meson decays, R(X_{e/μ})=B(B→Xeν)/B(B→Xμν), a precision test of electron-muon universality, using data corresponding to 189  fb^{-1} from electron-positron collisions collected with the Belle II detector. In events where the partner B meson is fully reconstructed, we use fits to the lepton momentum spectra above 1.3  GeV/c to obtain R(X_{e/μ})=1...

BACKGROUND: Endomyocardial fibrosis is a grim disease. It is the most common restrictive cardiomyopathy worldwide, but the exact etiology and pathogenesis both remain unknown. Endomyocardial fibrosis is recurrently associated with chronic eosinophilia and probable dietary, environmental, and infectious factors, which contribute not only to the onset of the disease (an inflammatory process) but also to its progression and maintenance (endomyocardial damage and scar formation). The trademark of the disease is the fibrotic obliteration of the affected ventricle...

A condition of exposure to multiple stressors resulting in a mixed clinical picture spanning conventional categories without meeting any of them in full, encompasses a risk for a list of comorbidities preventing appropriate prevention and treatment. New transformative transdiagnostic approaches suggest changes spanning conventional categories. They base their systems of classification on biomarkers as well as on brain structural and functional dysregulation as associated with behavioral and emotional symptoms...

Introduction: Wearable technology (WT) has become common place in sport. Increased affordability has allowed WT to reach the wrists and bodies of grassroots and community athletes. While WT is commonly used by sport populations to monitor training load, the use of WT among dancers and dance teachers is unknown. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the perspectives of dancers, dance teachers, and dance parents on using WT in the dance studio environment. Methods: Dancers (aged 14+), dance teachers (aged 18+), and dance parents (with a child <18 years registered in a dance program) were recruited from local dance studios (including those offering vocational programs and/or professional training opportunities), and dance retail stores...

We report the first measurement of the Michel parameter ξ^{'} in the τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}ν_{τ} decay with a new method proposed just recently. The measurement is based on the reconstruction of the τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}ν_{τ} events with subsequent muon decay in flight in the Belle central drift chamber. The analyzed data sample of 988  fb^{-1} collected by the Belle detector corresponds to approximately 912×10^{6} τ^{+}τ^{-} pairs...

Dance is a popular physical activity. Increased dance training has been associated with an increased risk of injury. Given the established association between training load (TL) and injury in sport, knowledge of how TL is currently being measured in dance is critical. The objective of this study is to summarise published literature examining TL monitoring in dance settings. Six prominent databases (CINAHL, EMBASE, Medline, ProQuest, Scopus, SportDiscus) were searched and nine dance-specific journals were handsearched up to May 2022...
