PURPOSE: To evaluate the 5-year clinical and radiologic outcome of immediate implantation using submerged and nonsubmerged techniques with bone-level implants and internal hexagonal connections and the effects of potential influencing factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 114 bone-level implants (XiVE S plus) with internal hexagonal connections inserted into 72 patients were included. Patients were followed up for 5 years. A t-test was used to statistically evaluate the marginal bone loss between the submerged and nonsubmerged groups...

INTRODUCTION: Oral rehabilitation with overdenture on implants of upper jaw must be taken into consideration a variety of anatomical and biomechanical issues. It is possible to provide for rehabilitation with two or more implants, in different positions, solidarizing them with a bar. MATERIALS & METHODS: The present study involved a patient rehabilitated with 4 Xive implants (Friadent GmbH, Mannheim, Germany) solidarized with a titanium bar crafted with CAD-CAM technology for maximal comfort, precision and structural lightness...

OBJECTIVE: Comparability of topographical data of implant surfaces in literature is low and their clinical relevance often equivocal. The aim of this study was to investigate the ability of scanning electron microscopy and optical interferometry to assess statistically similar 3-dimensional roughness parameter results and to evaluate these data based on predefined criteria regarded relevant for a favorable biological response. METHODS: Four different commercial dental screw-type implants (NanoTite Certain Prevail, TiUnite Brånemark Mk III, XiVE S Plus and SLA Standard Plus) were analyzed by stereo scanning electron microscopy and white light interferometry...

Background. The present study was conducted to investigate the marginal bone loss around two different types of implant‒abutment junctions, called platform-switched (Implantium system) and non-platform switched (XiVE system) after two years of loading. Methods. Sixty-four implants in 49 patients were included in the study. The implants were placed in the posterior mandibular region according to the relevant protocols. The extent of bone loss around the implants was measured and compared after 24 months, using digital parallel periapical radiographs...

PURPOSE: The aims of this clinical study were to retrospectively evaluate implant survival, patient satisfaction, and radiographic, clinical, and esthetic outcomes following single-implant treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Eighty-seven patients, with a total of 126 implants (XiVE S, Dentsply Implants), who received single implant-retained crowns between 2004 and 2011 were retrospectively evaluated. Implant survival, marginal bone levels (MBL), changes in implant/mesial tooth vertical relationship, pink esthetic score (PES), white esthetic score (WES), patient assessment of the esthetics (visual analog scale), and oral health impact profile (OHIP-14) were evaluated...

BACKGROUND: Primary stabilityis not sufficientin less contact area between the implant and bone, the healing process because will be disrupted due to micro-motions and fibrous tissue affects osseointegration. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We implemented an in vitro experimental study of total 135 XiVE® implants were inserted in 22.5 bovine cow ribs with bone quality similar to a type IV human bone. Each rib end received a group of three different implant lengths, which were 8mm, 13mm and 15mm and had the same diameter 3...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between resonance frequency analysis (RFA) values and the histomorphometric bone-implant contact (BIC) immediately after insertion of the implant. Additionally, it was examined to define which extent peak insertion torque (PIT) was correlated with the latter measurements. 15 Xive(®) S plus root from dental implants were inserted in fresh porcine frontal bones. The insertion torque was measured with the Kavo Intrasurg 300 surgical unit. RFA connector was coupled to the implants and the mean value of 20 consecutive RFA measurements was calculated via Osstell(®) ISQ device...

PURPOSE: Bacterial colonization of the inner part of dental implants has been reported in numerous studies. The aim of this in vitro study was to analyze the bacterial colonization of the implant lumen of two implant systems that were partly subjected to a thermal cycling regimen after three different approaches to reducing bacterial load: filling of the hollow parts with either a disinfectant agent, a setting sealing compound, or a nonsetting sealing compound. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two implant systems with internal connections (the Bego Semados RI implant, Bego, and the Xive S Plus Screw Implant, Dentsply) were used in this study...

OBJECTIVE: This study compared the loosening torque of experimental double conical abutment screws to that of conventional conical abutment screws and flat-head screws in implants with internal connections before and after mechanical loading. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Eighty implant-screw-abutment assemblies were divided into four groups: flat-head screw (Xive S), conical screw (Straumann), conical screw (Nobel Biocare), and double conical screw (RTB). Abutments were tightened to a torque of 30 Ncm...

Connecting prostheses to the implant abutments has become a concern and achieving a satisfactory retention has been focused in cement-retention prostheses recently. Sandblasting is a method to make a roughened surface for providing more retention. The aim of this study was to compare effects of nano and micro airborne abrasive particles (ABAP) in roughening surface of implant abutments and further retention of cemented copings. Thirty Xive abutments and analogues (4.5 D GH1) were mounted vertically in self-cured acrylic blocks...

PURPOSE: This study investigated the effect of the absence of estrogen on the process of implant osseointegration in the jaws of beagle dogs. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Of eight beagle dogs, four underwent bilateral ovariectomy (OVX), and the other four constituted a control group. Twelve weeks postsurgery, XiVE implants (Dentsply) were placed in the second premolar site in the mandible and in the canine site in the maxilla. Zero, 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks after implant placement, implant stability quotients (ISQs) were measured by resonance frequency analysis (RFA)...

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the change in marginal bone level radiographically around two different implant systems after 7 years of use. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Twenty fully edentulous patients were included in the study and randomly assigned to two treatment groups of machined surface implants (Brånemark, n = 40) and rough-surface implants (Xive, n = 40). The implants were early loaded with individual bar-retained overdentures. All patients were treated by the same surgeon and the same prosthodontist...

BACKGROUND: The immediate placement of implants into fresh extraction socket has proven to be a safe and predictable procedure. However, there is lack of scientific evidence regarding the healing pattern and osseointegration associated with immediate implants especially with different grafting materials. METHODS: A total of 30 patients male or female, with a mean age of 23.1 years ± 6.0 in the age group of 18-38 years, each having at least one tooth indicated for extraction (either maxillary or mandibular anterior teeth) were selected and randomly divided in to two groups...

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of platform switching on stress distribution of two different implant systems using three-dimensional (3D) finite element models. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Six 3D finite element models were created to replicate two different implant systems with peri-implant bone tissue, in which six different implant-abutment configurations were represented: model XiVE-a: 3.8-mm-diameter implant and 3.8-mm-diameter abutment; model XiVE-b (platform-switching model): 4...

Three novel series of 6,8-dibromo-4(3H)quinazolinone derivatives were synthesized. Some of the novel quinazolinone derivatives were tested for their antitumor activity against the human breast carcinoma cell line MCF-7. Compounds XIIIb, IX, XIVd, XIVb, XIVe, XIIIa, XIVc, XVc, and XIVa exerted powerful cytotoxic effects against the MCF7 cells, with very low IC50 values compared to doxorubicin (positive control). The IC50 values were 1.7, 1.8, 1.83, 5.4, 6.84, 10.8, 13.9, 15.7, and 29.6 µg/mL, respectively...
