The discrete distribution and pharmacological characteristics of melatonin binding sites in the bovine hippocampus were determined. Autoradiography revealed the presence of melatonin binding sites in the stratum lacunosum-molecularis of the hippocampus (CA1), stratum molecularis of the subiculum and in the enthorhinal cortex.
