The flow reactivity of a left internal thoracic artery graft (LITAG) in response to atrial pacing was evaluated in 14 patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) with LITAG to left anterior descending artery (LAD). Systolic peak velocity and diastolic peak velocity were recorded using a duplex scanner of 7.5 MHz, and flow volumes in each phase and flow ratio were calculated. The external temporary atrial pacing was used to increase heart rates 25 and 50%. Diastolic peak velocity and flow volume increased predominantly on both pacing rates...

PURPOSE: To study the value of Doppler echocardiography as a tool for the evaluation of left internal thoracic artery graft (LITAG) patency in patients who underwent coronary revascularization using minimally invasive bypass surgery without extracorporeal circulation. METHODS: The first 12 consecutive patients were studied after coronary artery bypass surgery using a 5 MHz Doppler transducer. Doppler signals for the systolic and diastolic flow velocities were preferably obtained in the second intercostal space...

Free arterial grafts has been used as grafts for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) since April 1993 in our unit and midterm patency was confirmed by coronary angiogram in 32 patients. Of 32 free arterial grafts. 23 right internal thoracic artery grafts (RITAG), 7 gastroepiploic artery grafts (GEAG) and 2 left internal thoracic artery grafts (LITAG) were placed to 38 coronary arteries including 6 grafts for sequential bypass. 20 grafts were placed in the left circumflex artery. 11 to the diagonal branch, 5 to the left anterior descending artery and 3 to the right Free arterial grafts has been used as grafts for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) since April 1993 in our unit and midterm patency was confirmed by coronary angiogram in 32 patients...

A simple maneuver in intraarterial digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is proposed to improve the images of left internal thoracic artery bypass grafts (LITAGs). A contrast flush in the left subclavian artery, using a catheter that had been percutaneously introduced from the left brachial artery, was carried out in 14 patients with multiple coronary-aorta bypass grafts (CABGs) after aortic DSA. The side-hole portion of the catheter tip was positioned in the proximal left subclavian artery as the coiled portion remained in the aortic arch...

The internal thoracic artery (ITA) has excellent long-term patency when used as a conduit for coronary artery bypass (CAB), but there are still some problems, such as flow capacity and limited graft length of the ITA. This study was performed to evaluate the functional and pathologic late changes in left ITA grafts (LITAG), vein grafts (VG), ITA-vein (ITA-VG) and ITA-ITA composite grafts (ITA-ITAG) in a canine model of coronary artery bypass. Twenty-nine adult mongrel dogs underwent bypass of the left circumflex coronary artery (CX) with one of the above grafts...
