Background : Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) disease, which is commonly underdiagnosed, in addition to the well-known effects on the liver is also a risk factor for Cronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). It worsens the outcome at every stage of CKD; around 400.000 people worldwide die from HCV-related causes each year. The KDIGO 2018 Guidelines recommend that all patients be evaluated for renal disease when HCV is diagnosed and be screened for HCV when CKD is diagnosed, as the prevalence may be higher than in the general population...

The aim of present study was to investigate the nutritional status of patients with cronic heart failure and find correlation with disease outcomes. Initially 86 patients with different stages of CHF and 10 healthy persons were included in our study. Exclusion criteria were myocardial infarction or other concomitant acute diseases, renal failure (creatinine >250 µmol/L) in past 3 months. All patients underwent ECG, echocardiographic evaluation, clinical examination, as well as plasma samples were collected for further analysis...

TAPSE measurement during echocardiography is a well known measure of right heart systo-diastolic function. Low TAPSE means reduced cranio-caudal excursion of tricuspidal annulus, sign of both reduced ejection fraction and reduced distensibility of right ventricle. It is a good prognostic index for cardiac mortality risk in CHF patients, adding significant prognostic information to NYHA stadiation. Nephrologists do not always fully aware of right ventricular function in their patients affected by chronic renal failure (CRF), even if this datum is probably crucial in vascular access policy...

UNLABELLED: Hypertension is a common and difficult clinic problem in patients undergoing cronical hemodialysis and exerts a deleterious effect on mordibidy and mortality in end stage renal disease. Identification of potentially reversible factors associated with hypertension would be rational fist step in designing and effective therapeutic strategy. Our study aimed to document the prevalence of hypertension in hemodialysis patients in Andalucia and identify and characterise the demographic, epidemiological, clinical factors and dialysis regimens associated with hypertension...

The purpose of our study was the evaluation of the effects of a film on the anxiety and memory of cronically ill adolescents (n. 25) versus healthy adolescents (n. 25). The chronic illness was: renal failure, renal transplantation (6 months before), scoliosis and Crohn's disease. The S.T.A.I.-Y test was administered before and after the film to evaluate the state-anxiety before and after the vision, only the trait-anxiety was evaluated before. The state and trait-anxiety was not abnormal, although the state anxiety was increased in the hospitalized adolescents before the vision (mean S...

The cardiovascular complication represents the principal effect of death in patients uraemics cronics. The hypertension is one of most cause; for this, the control of hypertension is one important objective in this patients. The introduction of dynamic monitoring permit to estimate the adeguatesse of hypertension control or the appearance of extradialitic hypotension. The dynamic monitoring permit to value the difference in two groups, young and elderly and to conform the hypertension therapy.
