Mental load is a major cause of human-induced accidents. In this study, an explosive impact sensitivity experiment was used to induce mental load. A combination of subjective questionnaires and objective prospective time-distance tests were used to judge whether subjects experienced mental load. Four indicators, namely, β, γ, mean pupil diameter, and fixation time were selected by statistical analysis and PCA for the construction of a mental load assessment model. The study found that the occipital lobe was the most sensitive to mental load, especially β and γ bands...

UNLABELLED: Enteric yersiniosis, the third most common food-borne zoonosis in Europe, is mainly caused by the pathogen Yersinia enterocolitica . In France , the yersiniosis microbiological surveillance is conducted at the Yersinia National Reference Laboratory (YNRL). Since 2017, isolates have been characterized by whole genome sequencing (WGS) followed by a 500-gene Yersinia -cgMLST. We report here the data of the WGS-based surveillance on Y. enterocolitica isolates for the 2017-2021 period...

In this work, we propose and validate a generalization of the Helmholtz model that can account for both "bell-shaped" and "camel-shaped" differential capacitance profiles of concentrated electrolytes, the latter being characteristic of ionic liquids. The generalization is based on introducing voltage dependence of both the dielectric constant "ϵr(V)" and thickness "L(V)" of the inner Helmholtz layer, as validated by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. We utilize MD simulations to study the capacitance profiles of three different electrochemical interfaces: (1) graphite/[BMIm+][BF4-] ionic liquid interface; (2) Au(100)/[BMIm+][BF4-] ionic liquid interface; (3) Au(100)/1M [Na+][Cl-] aqueous interface...

Brevibacillus thermoruber strain Nabari cells grow as widely spreading dendritic colonies on reasoner's 2A-agar (1.5%) plates at around 55°C but as small motile colonies at 37°C. Motile colonies can be divided into colonies that move in straight or curved lines over long distances (wandering colonies), and colonies that rotate at a fixed location (rotating colonies). The addition of surfactant to the agar medium greatly increased the frequency of wandering colonies and facilitated the study of such colonies...

The spatial distribution of cells carrying clonal hematopoiesis mutations in the bone marrow and the potential role of interactions with the microenvironment are largely unknown. This study takes clonal evolution to the spatial level by describing a novel technique examining the spatial location of mutated clones in the bone marrow and the first evidence that mutated hematopoietic clones are spatially constrained and have heterogenous locations within millimeters of distance. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted on RPD patients over 5 years. Patients were categorised based on J-sign grade into low (J- and J1+), moderate (J2+) and high groups (J3+). Trochlear dysplasia (TD) and osseous structures (femoral anteversion angle [FAA], knee torsion, tibial tuberosity-trochlear groove [TT-TG] distance, Caton-Deschamps index) were assessed and grouped according to risk factor thresholds...

Previous studies report a preference for larger comfortable interpersonal distance (CIPD) in individuals with child maltreatment (CM) when being approached by others. Yet, research on approaching others, as opposed to being approached, as well as on potential effects of social anxiety and depression is lacking. We investigated if CM and depressive symptoms influence CIPD and if social anxiety mediates the possible association of CM and CIPD when approaching a female stranger. One hundred ten participants with CM (CM) and 58 participants without CM (non-CM) experiences performed the stop-distance paradigm and stopped first when feeling uncomfortable (D1) and again when feeling very uncomfortable (D2)...

The current understanding of clinical approaches and barriers in managing childhood myopia among Indian optometrists is limited. This research underscores the necessity and relevance of evidence-based practice guidelines by exploring their knowledge, attitude, and practice towards childhood myopia. A self-administered internet-based 26-item survey was circulated online among practicing optometrists in India. The questions assessed the demographics, knowledge, self-reported clinical practice behavior, barriers, source of information guiding their management, and extent of adult caregiver engagement for childhood myopia...

BACKGROUND: Myopia management contact lenses have been shown to successfully decrease the rate of eye elongation in children by changing the peripheral refractive profile of the retina. Despite the efforts of the scientific community, the retinal response mechanism to defocus is still unknown. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the local electrophysiological response of the retina with a myopia control contact lens (CL) compared to a single-vision CL of the same material. METHODS: The retinal electrical activity and peripheral refraction of 16 eyes (16 subjects, 27...

Many actinopterygian fish groups, including fossil and extant polypteriforms and lepisosteiforms, fossil halecomorphs, and some basal teleosts, have stout bony scales covered by layers of ganoin-an enamel layer ornamented with minute tubercles. Ganoid scales preserve well as disarticulated remains and notably constitute most of the fossil record for polypteriform in both South America and Africa. Based on two variables (tubercle size and distance between tubercles), some authors reported that the ganoin tubercle ornamentation in these scales is constant within a species and differs between species and allows distinguishing species or at least groups of species...

The intercalation structure of two-dimensional materials with expanded interlayer distance can facilitate mass transport, which is promising in fast-charging lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, the designed intercalation structures will be pulverized and destroyed under tough working conditions, causing overall performance deterioration of the batteries. Here, we present that an intercalated heterostructure made of the typical layered material of MoS2 intercalated by N-doped graphene-like carbon monolayer (MoS2 /g-CM) through a polymer intercalation strategy exhibits a unique behavior of reversible reconstructability as an LIB anode during cycling...

The self-assembly of block copolymers on nanocylinders has attracted a lot of interest due to its potential application in biomedicine and other fields. In this study, the self-assembly phase behavior of AB diblock copolymers on long nanocylinders in soft confinement has been studied by using a simulated annealing method. A square phase diagram of the morphology was constructed by increasing the number of chains of copolymers (cn) and the cylindrical diameter ( D ). As a result, morphological transitions from striped to helical and axially stacked toroids, as well as reversible transitions, started to appear...

BACKGROUND: The denomination of noncystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (NCFB) includes several causes, and differences may be expected between the patient subgroups regarding age, comorbidities, and clinical and functional evolution. This study sought to identify the main causes of NCFB in a cohort of stable adult patients and to investigate whether such conditions would be different in their clinical, functional, and quality of life aspects. METHODS: Between 2017 and 2019, all active patients with NCFB were prospectively evaluated searching for clinical data, past medical history, dyspnea severity grading, quality of life data, microbiological profile, and lung function (spirometry and six-minute walk test)...

BACKGROUND: The Y Balance Test-Upper Quarter (YBT-UQ) is a cost-effective, well-established, closed kinetic chain test to assess inter-limb asymmetries in the upper quarter that could negatively affect swimming performance. Thus, the aim of the present study was to determine YBT-UQ performances and inter-limb differences as well as its association with swimming performance in athletes with diverging levels of expertise. METHODS: Forty female and male competitive swimmers (age range: 10-22 years) with different expertise levels (A-squad: n  = 9, B-squad: n  = 12, C-squad: n  = 19) were tested (reach distances for the YBT-UQ) and swimming performance was calculated using the ratio of individual to world best time...
