BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of ambulatory high-dose methotrexate (HDMTX) administration with oral hydration, alkalinization, and leucovorin rescue. HDMTX (12 g/m) was given intravenously over 4 hours after urine alkalinization. Families and patients were instructed to continue ambulatory oral hydration and alkalinization to monitor urine pH and to adjust bicarbonate according to our institution's treatment algorithm. Clinical status and MTX levels were controlled every 24 hours, and oral leucovorin dose was adjusted accordingly...

This monocentre, descriptive, prospective, non-interventional study evaluated the long-term immune responses following routine vaccination with one or two doses of a licensed inactivated hepatitis A (HA) vaccine (Avaxim® 80U Pediatric) at age 11-23 months in a cohort of children from Mendoza, Argentina. Antibodies to hepatitis A virus (anti-HAV) were quantified annually up to Y5, and at Y7. The largest outbreak of dengue in Buenos Aires, Argentina, occurred during 2016. Phylogenetic, phylodynamic, and phylogeographic analyses of 82 samples from dengue patients revealed co-circulation of 2 genotype V dengue virus lineages, suggesting that this virus has become endemic to the Buenos Aires metropolitan area.

Contamination by trace elements (TE) is an increasing concern worldwide. In some areas, crop production could be limited by the presence of metals and metalloids, so it is important to determine their concentrations and mobility. The region of Jáchal, province of San Juan, Argentina, has good growing conditions for onion and grapevine production, but their quality and yield are affected by high TE concentration in soils and water. Familial amyloidosis of the Finnish type or Meretoja syndrome is a rare autosomic dominant inherited systemic condition. It was first described by Meretoja in Finland in 1969. It is a disease produced by a single mutation in the gene coding for gelsolin, which generates an abnormal protein that cumulates in tissues and leads to various signs. Four populations of Rhinella arenarum from aquatic environments with different degrees of disturbance in central Argentina were compared to assess the ability of cytomorphology and cytomorphometry of blood cells as a hematological biomarker. A total of 93 specimens of R. arenarum (adults sexually mature) were captured during the spring. Paraguay has registered no human cases of rabies since 2004, and the last case in dogs, reported in 2009, was due to a variant maintained in the common vampire bat "Desmodus rotundus". We therefore aimed to conduct a systematic review of randomised, controlled trials, and case-control and cohort studies using lifestyle interventions to improve body composition in developing countries.
