While vitrification has become the method of choice for preservation of human oocytes and embryos, cryopreservation of complex tissues and of large yolk-containing cells, remains largely unsuccessful. One critical step in such instances is appropriate permeation while avoiding potentially toxic concentrations of cryoprotectants. Permeation of water and small non-charged solutes, such as those used as cryoprotectants, occurs largely through membrane channel proteins termed aquaporins (AQPs). The apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) is an essential component of the high density lipoproteins (HDL). In this study, the cDNA and genomic sequences of this apolipoprotein were characterized for first time in Solea senegalensis. The predicted polypeptide revealed conserved structural features including ten repeats in the lipid-binding domain and some residues involved in cholesterol interaction and binding. Secretory phospholipase A₂ (sPLA₂) is known as a major component of snake venoms and displays higher-order catalytic hydrolysis functions as well as a wide range of pathological effects. Atheris is not a notoriously dangerous genus of snakes although there are some reports of fatal cases after envenomation due to the effects of coagulation disturbances and hemorrhaging. In silkworms, yolk proteins comprise vitellin, egg-specific protein and 30K proteins, which are sequentially degraded by endogenous proteases strictly regulated during embryogenesis. Although the process has been extensively investigated, there is still a gap in the knowledge about the degradation of silkworm yolk proteins on the last two days of embryonic development. The concentrations of endosulfan isomers (α- and β-endosulfan) and endosulfan sulfate in environmental matrices (water, soil, feed) and duck eggs were determined. Multiple-shelled Fe2O3 yolk-shell particles were synthesized using the spray drying method and intended as a suitable support for the immobilization of commercial enzymes such as glucose oxidase (GOx), horseradish peroxidase (HRP), and laccase as model enzymes.
