A critically important new study by leading inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) researcher Fabio Cominelli and colleagues reveals that, in mice, the artificial sweetener SPLENDA deleteriously impacts the intestinal microbiota in a manner that promotes Crohn's-type disease in genetically susceptible hosts.
