In the present study, novel InVO4 /SnWO4 nanocomposites with different concentrations of SnWO4 were successfully prepared using a facile hydrothermal technique and investigated employing a wide range of analytical methods for efficient photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline (TC). X-ray diffraction analysis showed the presence of the orthorhombic phases of both InVO4 and SnWO4 in the composite catalyst. Dispersion of SnWO4 nanoplates over the InVO4 nanosheets enhanced the synergistic interactions, improving the separation of charge carriers and their transfer...

Surgical treatment should be considered for patients with severe vertebrobasilar artery (VBA) stenosis or progressive symptoms, but there is currently no clear treatment algorithm. We report a case of symptomatic intracranial vertebral artery stenosis with repeated cerebral infarction treated by percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) and stenting and monitoring of oxygen saturation by a brain oximeter. The patient was a 76-year-old man referred to our hospital due to infarction in the right cerebellum...

BACKGROUND: The adequacy of tissue O2 delivery in infants receiving intensive care is difficult to measure directly. Regional O2 (rSO2 ) and fractional tissue O2 extraction (FTOE), the ratio of O2 consumption to O2 delivery, obtained from newer noninvasive tools, such as near-infrared spectroscopy (INVOS) and microvascular tissue oximetry (T-Stat) can provide important information on the adequacy of tissue oxygenation and aid in managing critically ill infants. METHODS: We prospectively evaluated differences in rSO2 and FTOE in 26 infants with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) (n = 12) or d-transposition of the great arteries (d-TGA) (n = 14)...

BACKGROUND: About two-thirds of the in-hospital deaths after out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) are a consequence of anoxic brain injuries, which are due to hypoperfusion of the brain during the cardiac arrests. Being able to monitor cerebral perfusion during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is desirable to evaluate the effectiveness of the CPR and to guide further decision making and prognostication. METHODS: Two different devices were used to measure regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO2): INVOS™ 5100 (Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN, USA) and Root® O3 (Masimo Corporation, Irvine, CA, USA)...

BACKGROUND: Tissue oximetry devices use wavelengths in the 680-870 nm range to separate between oxygenated/deoxygenated hemoglobin. Conjugated bilirubin has an absorption peak at 730 nm. AIMS: We hypothesized that ForeSight Elite using 5 wavelengths reduces interference from bilirubin and shows higher regional tissue oxygen saturation (rSO2 ) than INVOS 5100C incorporating 2 wavelengths. OBJECTIVE: To assess whether blood pressure (systolic (SABP), diastolic (DABP), and mean arterial blood pressure (MABP) and cerebral-regional-oxygen-saturation (crSO2) and cerebral-fractional-tissue-oxygen-extraction (cFTOE) are associated after immediate fetal-to-neonatal transition in preterm neonates with and without respiratory support. STUDY DESIGN: Post-hoc analyses of secondary outcome parameters of prospective observational studies were performed. We included moderate and late preterm neonates with and without respiratory support with cerebral NIRS monitoring (INVOS 5100c) and an oscillometric blood pressure measurement at minute 15 after birth...

Development of efficient photocatalysts is essential for carbon dioxide (CO2 ) photocatalytic reduction. In this study, Z-scheme CoAl-layered double hydroxide (LDH)/indium vanadate (InVO4 ) heterojunction photocatalysts were synthesized using hydrothermal method, and their performance toward CO2 reduction and mechanism were determined. Results of characterizations showed that the CoAl-LDH/InVO4 -30 exhibited desired morphology, the most efficient photogenerated carriers separation and charge transfer, and the highest photocurrent response...

In the last decade, however, the process of in vitro fertilization has suffered several changes in ovulation induction and oocyte retrieval (Ranoux 1990, ; ).The INVO procedure has been used to treat patients with different causes of infertility in many countries. This is a procedure which was developed over 20 years ago and is simpler and less costly to the infertility treatment when compared to conventional techniques...

Few reports have examined the association between changes in cerebral oxygenation and clinical factors, including blood pressure (BP), upon standing after hemodialysis (HD). This study aimed to clarify the factors affecting the changes in cerebral regional oxygen saturation (rSO2 ) upon standing after HD and monitor the differences in cerebral rSO2 changes that occur upon standing after HD in patients with and without diabetes mellitus (DM). Changes in mean BP and cerebral rSO2 were tracked in 43 HD patients during 120 s of standing after HD using an INVOS 5100c oxygen saturation monitor...

A 68-year-old man received hemodialysis (HD) for the treatment of end-stage renal failure for 6 years. Five years prior to carotid artery stenting (CAS), a neck ultrasound performed to screen for carotid atherosclerosis revealed an asymptomatic right internal carotid artery stenosis. One month prior, the stenotic lesion progressed to 74% by cerebral angiography; therefore, CAS was performed. To evaluate the influence of right internal carotid artery stenosis on the intradialytic cerebral circulation and oxygenation, cerebral regional oxygen saturation (rSO2 ) at bilateral forehead was measured using the INVOS 5100c oxygen saturation monitor (Covidien Japan, Japan) during HD before and after CAS...

Recently, monitoring of cerebral oxygen saturation (ScO2 ) has become widespread in pediatric cardiac surgery. Our previous study reported that mean blood pressure (mBP) was the major contributor to ScO2 throughout cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in children weighing under 10 kg. We speculated that this result might be attributable to incomplete cerebral autoregulation in such young children. Accordingly, our hypothesis is that the relationship between ScO2 and the physiological parameters may change according to the growth of the children...

The structural and optical characteristics of InVO4 /TiO2 heterojunction composites are investigated using a variety of techniques, including powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and spectroscopy techniques. The addition of InVO4 to TiO2 considerably enhanced the photocatalytic performance in selective photo-oxidation of benzyl alcohol (BA). The 10 wt% InVO4/ TiO2 composite photocatalyst provided a decent 100% BA conversion with over 99% selectivity for benzaldehyde, and exhibited a maximum conversion rate of 3...

Contrary to the expectation, InVO 3 was found to crystallize in the polar LiNbO 3 -type structure with a calculated spontaneous polarization as large as 74 μC/cm 2 . Antiferromagnetic coupling of V 3+ magnetic moments and a cooperative magnetic ground state below about 10 K coupled with a polar structure suggest an intriguing ground state of the novel LiNbO 3 -type high-pressure InVO 3 structure...

Controversy surrounds regional cerebral oximetry (rSO2 ) because extracranial contamination and unmeasured changes in cerebral arterial:venous ratio confound readings. Correlation of rSO2 with brain tissue oxygen (PbrO2 ), a "gold standard" for cerebral oxygenation, could help resolve this controversy but PbrO2 measurement is highly invasive. This was a prospective cohort study. The primary aim was to evaluate correlation between PbrO2 and rSO2 and the secondary aim was to investigate the relationship between changing ventilation regimens and measurement of PbrO2 and rSO2 ...
