After pulp therapy or with multi-surface caries in primary molars, pre-formed stainless steel crowns are usually placed to ensure tooth longevity. Esthetic alternatives, such as zirconia crowns, have been proposed, but they are invasive. Here we describe two cases of chairside computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology used to treat extended and/or deep caries on primary molars. A powder-free chairside CAD/CAM system, a milling unit and machinable high-performance composite blocks were used...

Laparoscopic repair of ventral incisional hernia with intraperitoneal onlay mesh (IPOM) technique by anti-adhesion mesh has been widely adopted. Due to clinical heterogenicity in location, quantity and size of abdominal incisional hernia, strategy of such repair can be challenging. We hereby present the video of a patient with multiple swiss-cheese hernias in a single long midline incision repaired with double anti-adhesion mesh by IPOM technique. Patient demographics, technical details and clinical tips & tricks are discussed...

Dental biocorrosion can produce a devastating impact on oral health. The restorative phase of the treatment should not cause additional damage of the remaining sound tooth structure. Ultrathin occlusal veneers are a conservative alternative to traditional onlays and complete crowns for the treatment of severe biocorrosive lesions. This strategy is explained in the present case report through a full-mouth rehabilitation of a patient with moderate biocorrosion. Maxillary anterior teeth were restored using the bilaminar technique (lingual direct composite veneers with labial ceramic veneers) and posterior teeth using ultrathin CAD-CAM ceramic occlusal veneers...

INTRODUCTION: Morgagni hernias rarely present in adult life and, thus, little data exist on the optimal method of surgical repair. The laparoscopic approach has grown in popularity since the first reported case in 1992. This article showcases a method for laparoscopic repair of Morgagni hernias using both primary closure and mesh reinforcement. OPERATIVE APPROACH: There were three obese women who presented in adulthood with cardiopulmonary symptoms; in all cases, the symptoms were attributable to local compressive effects of large Morgagni hernias...

Bariatric surgery can be safely combined with laparoscopic intraperitoneal onlay mesh (IPOM) repair. In case of large ventral hernias, laparoendoscopic component separation can also be combined to achieve tension-free closure of the defect. Concomitant bariatric surgery and hernia repair also offer the additional benefit of reduction in recurrence of hernias as obesity, one of the risk factors, is treated in the process. We present a case of 60-year-old man with a body mass index of 45.3 kg/m2 with a large recurrent ventral hernia...

Digital manufacturing, all-ceramics, and adhesive dentistry are currently the trendiest topics in clinical restorative dentistry. Tooth- and implant-supported fixed restorations from computer-aided design (CAD)/computer-aided manufacturing (CAM)-fabricated high-strength ceramics-namely, alumina and zirconia-are widely accepted as reliable alternatives to traditional metal-ceramic restorations. Most recent developments have focused on high-translucent monolithic full-contour zirconia restorations, which have become extremely popular in a short period of time, due to physical strength, CAD/CAM fabrication, and low cost...

The aim of this article is to identify the indications for adhesively cemented restorations and to provide a correct step-by-step protocol for clinicians. New cavity preparation principles are based on morphological considerations in terms of geometry (maximum profile line and inclination of cusp lines), and structure (dentin concavity and enamel convexity). In this article, we discuss previous preparation concepts that were not designed purely for adhesive restorations and were therefore not conservative enough or suitable for adhesive procedures...

In the direct-indirect composite technique, composite is applied to a nonretentive tooth preparation (eg, a noncarious cervical lesion or a veneer/inlay/onlay preparation) without any bonding agent, sculpted to a primary anatomic form, and light-cured. The partially polymerized restoration is then removed from the preparation and finished and tempered extraorally chairside. The finished inlay is bonded to the preparation using a resin-based luting agent. Advantages of this technique include enhanced physical and mechanical properties afforded by the extraoral chairside tempering process because of increased monomer conversion, and greater operator control over the final marginal adaptation, surface finishing and polishing, and anatomy of the restoration, given that these elements are defined outside of the patient's mouth...
