Extracellular fluid volume, plasma electrolyes, and plasma angiotensin II (A II) were individually controlled to determine their influence on the acute pressor responsiveness to A II. Hemodialysis of nephrectomized dogs was used to simulate and control the changes of major variables which occur in the intact state during changes in sodium balance.
