An unambiguous structural characterization of the water-soluble Aureobasidium pullulans β-(1→3, 1→6)-glucan is yet to be achieved, although this β-(1→3, 1→6)-glucan is expected to exhibit excellent biofunctional properties. This work was to investigate the influence of time on the properties of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) during the ammonium persulfate (APS) oxidation of hybrid poplar residues (HPHL). The CNCs at the different times were characterized by different techniques.
