Hepatic oxidative stress is an important mechanism of Cd-induced hepatotoxicity, and it is ameliorated by TMP. However, this underlying mechanism remains to be elucidated. To investigate the mechanism of the protective effect of TMP on liver injuries in mice induced by subchronic cadmium exposure, 60 healthy male ICR mice were randomly divided into five groups of 12 mice each, namely, control (CON), Cd (2 mg/kg of CdCl2 ), Cd + 100 mg/kg of TMP, Cd + 150 mg/kg of TMP, and Cd + 200 mg/kg of TMP, and were acclimatized and fed for 7 d...

Fluoride is a pervasive environmental contaminant. Prolonged excessive fluoride intake can inflict severe damage on the liver and intestines. Previous 16S rDNA sequencing revealed a decrease in ileal Bifidobacterium abundance during fluoride-induced hepatointestinal injury. Hence, this work aimed to investigate the possible mitigating function of Bifidobacterium on hepatointestinal injury caused by fluoride. Thirty-six 6-week-old C57BL/6J mice (equally divided between males and females) were allotted randomly to three groups: Ctrl group (distilled water), NaF group, and NaF + Ba group (100 mg/L NaF distilled water)...

Cardiovascular diseases pose a long-term risk to human health. This study focuses on the rich-spectrum mechanical vibrations generated during cardiac activity. By combining Fourier series theory, we propose a multi-frequency vibration model for the heart, decomposing cardiac vibration into frequency bands and establishing a systematic interpretation for detecting multi-frequency cardiac vibrations. Based on this, we develop a small multi-frequency vibration sensor module based on flexible polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) films, which is capable of synchronously collecting ultra-low-frequency seismocardiography (ULF-SCG), seismocardiography (SCG), and phonocardiography (PCG) signals with high sensitivity...

Sodium-metal batteries (SMBs) are ideal for large-scale energy storage due to their stable operation and high capacity. However, they have safety issues caused by severe dendrite growth and side reactions, particularly when using liquid electrolytes. Therefore, it is critically important to develop electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and improved safety that are non-flammable and resistant to dendrites. Here, we developed polymerized polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA)-modified poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) electrolytes (PPEs) with highly conductive sodium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide and corrosion-inhibitive sodium bis(oxalato)borate salts for SMBs...

Molecular glues are small molecules that stabilize protein-protein interactions, enabling new molecular pharmacologies, such as targeted protein degradation. They offer advantages over proteolysis targeting chimeras (PROTACs), which present challenges associated with the size and properties of heterobifunctional constructions, but glues lack the rational design principles analogous to PROTACs. One notable exception is the ability to alter the structure of Cereblon (CRBN)-based molecular glues and redirect their activity toward new neo-substrate proteins...

MeDalphos Au(I) complexes featuring aryl, alkynyl, and alkyl groups readily react with electrophilic fluorinating reagents such as N -fluorobenzenesulfonimide and Selectfluor. The ensuing [(MeDalphos)Au(R)F]+ complexes have been isolated and characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy as well as X-ray diffraction. They adopt a square-planar contra-thermodynamic structure, with F trans to N. DFT/IBO calculations show that the N lone pair of MeDalphos assists and directs the transfer of F+ to gold. The [(MeDalphos)Au(Ar)F]+ (Ar = Mes, 2,6-F2 Ph) complexes smoothly engage in C-C cross-coupling with PhCCSiMe3 and Me3 SiCN, providing direct evidence for the oxidative fluorination/transmetalation/reductive elimination sequence proposed for F+ -promoted gold-catalyzed transformations...

In recent years, fluoride pollution in water is a problem that has attracted much attention from researchers. The removal of fluoride-containing wastewater by adsorption with metal oxide as an adsorbent is the most common treatment method. Based on this, the effect of the doping ratio of La2 O3 , Fe2 O3, and Al2 O3 on the fluoride-removal performance was discussed by constructing a phase diagram. In this study, the adsorption mechanism of nanocrystalline lanthanum oxide terpolymer was investigated by density functional theory calculation and experiment...

The reactive nucleophiles, difluoroenolates, are generated in situ from the pentafluoro- gem -diols using cesium fluoride in pyridine. NMR studies confirm the role of the α-amidosulfones in this process. Horizontal ball mills (HBMs) have been proven capable of remediating per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in soil. Industrial-sized HBMs, which could easily be transported to impacted locations for on-site, ex-situ remediation, are readily available. This study examined PFAS degradation using an industrial-scale, 267 L cylinder HBM. This is the typical scale used in the industry before field application. Near-complete destruction of 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonate (6:2 FTS), as well as the non-target PFAS in a modern fluorotelomer-based aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), was achieved when spiked onto nepheline syenite sand (NSS) and using potassium hydroxide (KOH) as a co-milling reagent...

A key innovation is the integration on chip of a 12×16 polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-based piezoelectric sensor array with per-taxel signal conditioning frontend and spiking readout combined with local embedded neuromorphic first-order processing through Complex Receptive Fields (CRFs). Experimental results show that Spiking Neural Network (SNN)-based classification of the chip's spatiotemporal spiking output for input tactile stimuli such as texture and flutter frequency achieves excellent accuracies up to 97...

OBJECTIVE: Although 18 F-sodium fluoride (18 F-NaF) uptake is frequently observed in extraosseous metastases of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) with calcification, itcan also occur in metastatic sites without visible calcium deposition, leading to the hypothesis that visually undetectable calcium accumulation may be responsible for this uptake. The aim of this study was to indirectly support this hypothesis by analyzing the correlation between the degree of 18 F-NaF uptake and radiodensity in extraosseous MTC metastases, since calcium deposition can increase attenuation even when not visually detectable...

Amide bond synthesis is one of the most used reactions in medicinal chemistry. We report an amide bond formation reaction through deoxyfluorinated carboxylic acids under mild conditions using 2-pyridinesulfonyl fluoride. The reaction procedure has been used in a one-pot synthesis of amides and esters via in situ generation of acyl fluoride. This one-pot synthetic method provides easy access to amides and esters. Using this method, we have sequentially synthesized a tetrapeptide and calceolarioside-B glycoside derivative with good yields...

In this study, the insertion of fluorine into LiFePO4 was carried out under molecular fluorine F2 at different temperatures. The reactivity strongly depends on the applied fluorination temperature, leading to very different products: core delithiation of the material is observed at low temperatures with the formation of a LiF shell around particles, while the material decomposes to gradually form a mixture of α-FeF3 and α-Li3 FeF6 iron fluorides at higher temperatures. A second thermal treatment under N2 leads to the formation of LiFePO4 F in a new way that has not been reported before...
