Objective: To observe the clinical course of children with juvenile-onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (JORRP) until 14 years old. Methods: The clinical data of one hundred and twenty cases treated between Januray 1, 2002 and September 30, 2017 in Beijing Tongren Hospital were analyzed retrospectively. Excluding the deaths and the lost, patients who could be ≥ 5 years without recurrence, were defined as the cured group, and < 5 years with recurrence defined as the recurrent group. Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is a rare disease caused by human papillomavirus. Aggressive forms of RRP require repeated cytoreductive surgery to restore airway patency. Tracheal disease is even less common and lung parenchyma is involved in less than 1% of patients. We present reports of three cases of RRP with progressive lung disease in adult patients.

To evaluate the findings on chest CTs in 16 patients (8 men and 8 women) with laryngotracheobronchial papillomatosis. This was a retrospective study involving patients ranging from 2 to 72 years of age. The evaluation of the CT scans was independently performed by two observers, and discordant results were resolved by consensus. Endotracheal intubation was successfully accomplished with 70° rigid nasendoscope under video guidance in two patients in whom repeated attempts to secure airway with flexible fibreoptic bronchoscope were unsuccessful. Both patients had compromised airway (laryngeal papillomatosis and a huge thyroid swelling) and were uncooperative. Frova intubating introducer was used along with 70° rigid nasendoscope to accomplish tracheal intubation under video guidance.

The latter must be differentiated from different diseases in the majority of patients according to age. Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis is caused by human papillomavirus and involves mainly the upper respiratory tract.
