INTRODUCTION: In acute ischemic stroke, prediction of the tissue outcome after reperfusion can be used to identify patients that might benefit from mechanical thrombectomy (MT). The aim of this work was to develop a deep learning model that can predict the follow-up infarct location and extent exclusively based on acute single-phase computed tomography angiography (CTA) datasets. In comparison to CT perfusion (CTP), CTA imaging is more widely available, less prone to artifacts, and the established standard of care in acute stroke imaging protocols...

Traditional petroleum-based food-packaging materials have poor permeability, limited active packaging properties, and difficulty in biodegradation, limiting their application. We developed a carboxymethylated tamarind seed polysaccharide composite film incorporated with ε-polylysine (CTPε) for better application in fresh-cut agricultural products. The CTPε films exhibit excellent water vapor barrier properties, but the mechanical properties are slightly reduced. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction spectra indicate the formation of hydrogen bonds between ε-PL and CTP, leading to their internal reorganization and dense network structure...

Computed tomography perfusion (CTP) is a dynamic 4-dimensional imaging technique (3-dimensional volumes captured over approximately 1 min) in which cerebral blood flow is quantified by tracking the passage of a bolus of intravenous contrast with serial imaging of the brain. To diagnose and assess acute ischemic stroke, the standard method relies on summarizing acquired CTPs over the time axis to create maps that show different hemodynamic parameters, such as the timing of the bolus arrival and passage (Tmax and MTT), cerebral blood flow (CBF), and cerebral blood volume (CBV)...

OBJECTIVES: An idiopathic perilymphatic fistula (PLF) can be difficult to diagnose because patients present with sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL) and/or vestibular symptoms without any preceding events. In such cases, we currently test for cochlin-tomoprotein (CTP) to confirm the diagnosis of idiopathic PLF because CTP is only detected in the perilymph. In this study, we report the clinical course of five patients definitively diagnosed with idiopathic PLF who underwent PLF repair surgery using transcanal endoscopic ear surgery (TEES)...

Total phosphorus (TP) is non-optically active, thus TP concentration (CTP) estimation using remote sensing still exists grand challenge. This study developed a deep neural network model (DNN) for CTP estimation with synchronous in-situ measurements and MODIS-derived remote sensing reflectance (Rrs ) (N = 3916). Using DNN, the annual and intra-annual CTP spatial distributions of the Great Lakes since 2002 were reconstructed. Then, the reconstructions were correlated to nine potential factors, e.g., Chlorophyll-a, snowmelt, and cropland, to explain seasonal and long-term CTP variations...

Silica (SiO2 ), accounting for the main component of fly ash, plays a vital role in the heterogeneous formation of polychlorinated thianthrenes/dibenzothiophenes (PCTA/DTs) in high-temperature industrial processes. Silica clusters, as the basic units of silica, provide reasonable models to understand the general trends of complex surface reactions. Chlorothiophenols (CTPs) are the most crucial precursors for PCTA/DT formation. By employing density functional theory, this study examined the formation of 2-chlorothiophenolate from 2-CTP adsorbed on the dehydrated silica cluster ((SiO2 )3 ) and the hydroxylated silica cluster ((SiO2 )3 O2 H4 )...

Differentiating between a salvageable Ischemic Penumbra (IP) and an irreversibly damaged Infarct Core (IC) is important for therapy decision making for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Existing methods rely on Computed Tomography Perfusion (CTP) or Diffusion-Weighted Imaging-Fluid Attenuated Inversion Recovery (DWI-FLAIR). We designed a novel Convolutional Neural Network named I2PC-Net, which relies solely on Non-Contrast Computed Tomography (NCCT) for the automatic and simultaneous segmentation of the IP and IC...

This split-mouth randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate the primary and secondary stability of hybrid implants with different thread configurations and hydrophilic surfaces. Twenty patients with a partially edentulous maxilla were selected. These patients received two types of implants with the same hydrophilic surface: CTP group: Cylindrical-Tapered implant with perforating threads; CTH: Cylindrical-Tapered implant with hybrid threads configuration (perforating and condensing threads). The primary and secondary stability parameters were measured by insertion torque and resonance frequency analysis at the time of implant placement and 7, 28, 56, and 90 days after the surgical procedure...

BACKGROUND: Computed tomography perfusion (CTP)-estimated core volume is associated with functional outcomes in acute ischemic stroke. This relationship might differ among patients, depending on brain volume. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively included patients from the MR CLEAN Registry. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and intracranial volume (ICV) were automatically segmented on NCCT. We defined the proportion of the ICV and total brain volume (TBV) affected by the ischemic core as ICVcore and TBVcore ...

Brain perfusion allows for the evaluation of cerebral hemodynamics, particularly in brain infarcts and tumors. Computed tomography (CT) perfusion (CTP) provides reliable data; however, it has a limited scan field of view and radiation exposure. Magnetic resonance (MR) perfusion provides detailed imaging of small structures and a wide scan field of view. However, no study has compared CTP and MR perfusion and assessed the correlation between the perfusion parameters measured using CTP and MR perfusion. The aim of the present study was to assess the correlation and agreement of the cerebral perfusion derived from dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC)-MRI and CTP in dogs...

The accurate detection of multiplex collagen biomarkers is vital for diagnosing and treating various critical diseases such as tumors and fibrosis. Despite the attractive optical properties of quantum dots (QDs), it remains technically challenging to create stable and specific QDs-based probes for multiplex biological imaging. We report for the first time the construction of multi-color QDs-based peptide probes for the simultaneous fingerprinting of multiplex collagen biomarkers in connective tissues. A bipeptide system composed of a glutathione (GSH) host peptide and a collagen-targeting guest peptide (CTP) has been developed, yielding CTP-QDs probes that exhibit exceptional luminescence stability when exposed to ultraviolet irradiation and mildly acidic conditions...

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), as the primary energy source, plays vital roles in many cellular events. Developing an efficient assay is crucial to rapidly evaluate the level of cellular ATP. A portable and integrated electrochemiluminescence (ECL) microsensor array based on a closed bipolar electrode (BPE) was presented. In the BPE unit, the ECL chemicals and oxidation/reduction were separated from the sensing chamber. The ATP aptamer was assembled with single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) in the sensing chamber. ATP capture made the aptamer disassemble from the ssDNA and facilitated DNA-templated silver nanocluster (Ag NC) generation by the target-rolling circle amplification (RCA) reaction...
