PURPOSE: To reevaluate the effect of isolated teratozoospermia on IVF and determine if there was any therapeutic benefit to isolated teratozoospermia by ICSI, since there are no widely accepted criteria for the treatment technique about isolated teratozoospermia. METHODS: A total of 441 couples with >20 million and progressive motility >30 % sperm undergoing their first IVF/ICSI cycle were included in the study between 2008 and 2010, for whom at least 8 oocytes were retrived...

JAK2 (Janus kinase-2) is expressed in a wide variety of cells including tumor cells and contributes to the proliferation and survival of those cells. The gain of function mutation (V617F)JAK2 mutant is found in the majority of myeloproliferative diseases. Cell proliferation depends on the availability of amino acids. Concentrative cellular amino acid uptake is in part accomplished by Na(+) coupled amino acid transport through SLC6A19 (B(0)AT). The present study thus explored whether JAK2 activates SLC6A19. To this end, SLC6A19 was expressed in Xenopus oocytes with or without wild type JAK2, (V617F)JAK2 or inactive (K882E)JAK2 and electrogenic amino acid transport determined by dual electrode voltage clamp...

UNLABELLED: The aim of this study was to make a conclusion about aplicability of two differnet gonadothropins in COS (rFSH versus HP-hMG). The primary conclusion for the success as a result of COS are the mean number of retrived oocytes, mature oocytes, fertilization rate, mean number of quality embrios, and criopreverzed embrios. The secondary conclusions were clinical pregnancy rate and delivery rates. METHODS: The study was a retrospective case-control study,...

AIM: to compare standard long GnRH agonist protocol (Triptorelin) and GnRH antagonist regimens (Cetrorelix) in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) for ICSI cycles. METHODS: Retrospective case-control study. 106 PCOS patients undergoing COS for ICSI with long GnRH agonist protocol (Triptorelin) were matched with age and BMI to 106 PCOS patients undergoing COS for ICSI with GnRH antagonist (Cetrorelix) during the same period...

BACKGROUND: Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) outcome is tightly depinding of male and female factors. The assesment of several clinical and laboratory parameters may predict results of ICSI. AIM: This study aimed at investigation wich parameter(s) may predict successful intracytoplamic sperm injection for infertility. METHODS: We restrospectively analysed patients who had intracytoplasmic sperm injection for male or female factor infertility...

OBJECTIVE: A challenge of in vitro maturation (IVM) treatment in some women is insufficient development of the endometrium prior to embryo transfer. DESIGN: Retrospective study. SETTING: McGill Reproductive Center, Montreal, Canada. PATIENT(S): Women with endometrial thickness <6 mm on days 6-10 ultrasound (US) scan of IVM treatment. INTERVENTION(S): In the human menopausal gonadotropin (hMG) group, 150 IU/day of hMG was started and in the estradiol group, 6 to 12 mg/day of micronized 17beta-estradiol was initiated...

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of ovulation stimulation protocol with gradual increment of gonadotropin in women with high ovarian response. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted between june 2005 and April 2006 in 70 women undergoing controlled ovarian hyperstimulation. The clinical outcomes of the women using gradual increment protocol were compared with those of women receiving other ovulation-stimulating protocols. RESULTS: The mean number of large follicles (>or=14 mm) and retrieved oocytes on the day of retrival was significantly lower, but the duration of stimulation was significantly longer in the gradual increment group than in the control group...
