Rupture of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle occurs when the muscle is overstretched by dorsiflexion of the ankle with the knee in full extension. Muscle ultrasound (US) is a convenient diagnostic imaging technique for visualizing normal and pathological muscle tissue as it is a non-invasive real-time examination. Muscle US can also be used in the follow-up of patients with neuromuscular disorders. The aim of this paper is to describe US monitoring of the rehabilitation process in a dog undergoing diathermy treatment (TECAR) due to rupture of the proximal medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle and to show the changes in US appearance of the muscle before, during and after rehabilitation...

Our phase-one prospective study wants to evaluate the safety and tolerability of TECAR therapy in the treatment of Peyronie’s disease. From June 2011 to September 2012 we enrolled 70 patients. Each patient had been previously subjected to andrological examination, to a questionnaire for the evaluation of IPP and ED, and the SF-36 (V1) for the evaluation of the general state of health. The evaluation of pain was made using the VAS scale of pain. Every patient was subjected to TECAR treatment of the fibrotic plaque (both in resistive mode and in capacitive mode) for a total of three sessions carried out on consecutive days...

PURPOSE: Systematically search and analyse the results of surgical and non-surgical treatments for insertional Achilles tendinopathy. METHODS: A structured systematic review of the literature was performed to identify surgical and non-surgical therapeutic studies reporting on ten or more adults with insertional Achilles tendinopathy. MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE (Classic) and the Cochrane database of controlled trials (1945-March 2011) were searched. The Coleman methodology score was used to assess the quality of included articles, and these were analysed with an emphasis on change in pain score, patient satisfaction and complication rate...
