There are sporadic instances of patients with the motor function disturbance of non-cardiac origin after cardiac surgery, and these patients may need prolonged post-operative cardiac rehabilitation. We established our cardiac rehabilitation program for post-operative patients and a total of 124 patients underwent the post-operative cardiac rehabilitation program (male 73, female 51, average age 60). Among them, 12 patients (9.7%) received the physical therapy for the disturbance of motor function post-operatively...

The article discusses four methods of relieving chronic pain: (1) the therapeutic touch; (2) myotherapy, erasing the body's trigger points; (3) guided imagery; and (4) relaxation combined with rhythmic breathing. Nurses familiar with these pain-relieving techniques are better equipped than others to care for and help chronic-pain patients. These methods are suggested for the following reasons. They: (a) are well within the scope of the average nurse's qualifications to use; (b) do not require any special equipment; (c) may be tried without the attending physician's or surgeon's approval; (d) will not interfere with whatever medical treatment the patient may be undergoing; and (e) do not require the patient's official informed consent...

The reported analysis was based on 288 clinical cards of patients aged 2 to 6 years, admitted for treatment in the years 1980-1985. The greatest group was that of children aged 3 years (28%), followed by those aged 6 years (25%). Abnormalities from the group of distocclusion prevailed (28%), followed by teeth abnormalities (26%), and cross-bite (16%). In 165 cases functional apparatus was used initially, in 66 cases Schwarz or Adams plates, in 31 cases dental prostheses, and in 22 cases chin sling. Four cases were observed after removal of malocclusion cause...

COMPARATIVE STUDY
S Schulz, C Becker
In 1975, a total of 165 patients with myoarthropathies were treated by myotherapy. Through the use of a program of step-by-step therapy, which included myogymnastic selftreatment in addition to psychotherpay and repair of teeth, 77.6 percent of 96 reexamined patients were made free from complaints. Fuller utilization of the possibilities of causal therapy would certainly have allowed a higher rate of success to be achieved using the simplified program of exercises described in this paper. Experimental evidence could be presented in support of the assumption that parodontal damage may be caused to uncorrected sites of abnormal occlusion in the course of myogymnastic therapy...
