INTRODUCTION: Drawing on the cognition-affect-conation (C-A-C) framework, this study investigates how perceived information and social and system feature overload induce depression and anxiety, which leads to affect discontinuous intentions of the social media users. METHODS: The data collected from 570 social networking site users in China are analyzed through structural equation modeling (SEM). RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The findings show that perceived information overload, perceived social overload, and perceived system feature overload directly affect depression and anxiety among social networking site users, which directly leads to discontinuous intentions...

This article presents a dataset concerned with second language (L2) learning [1]. We investigated two affective variables (i.e., peer support [PS] and foreign language anxiety [FLA]) and one conative variable (i.e., willingness to communicate [WTC]). A total of 387 adult Ukrainian learners of English (ULEs) completed an online survey. The main items in the survey were 22 Likert-type items, each with response options ranging from 1 = 'strongly disagree' to 5 = 'strongly agree'. The dataset includes the numerical responses of the participants to these items, plus their genders and ages...

Despite the therapeutical advancements in the surgical treatment of primary intra-axial neoplasms, which determined both a significative improvement in OS and QoL and a reduction in the incidence of surgery-induced major neurological deficits, nowadays patients continue to manifest subtle post-operative neurocognitive impairments, preventing them from a full reintegration back into social life and into the workforce. The birth of connectomics paved the way for a profound reappraisal of the traditional conception of brain architecture, in favour of a model based on large-scale structural and functional interactions of a complex mosaic of cortical areas organized in a fluid network interconnected by subcortical bundles...

A theory is proposed that views emotional feelings as pivotal for action control. Feelings of emotions are valued interoceptive signals from the body that become multimodally integrated with perceptual contents from registered and mentally simulated events. During the simulation of a perceptual change from one event to the next, a conative feeling signal is created that codes for the wanting of a specific perceptual change. A wanted perceptual change is weighted more strongly than alternatives, increasing its activation level on the cognitive level and that of associated motor structures that produced this perceptual change in the past...

The notion of utility gained a strong foothold in health economics over the last decades. However, the concept of health utility has not yet been decisively or irrefutably defined and the definitions that exist often do not take into account the current state of psychological literature. This perspective paper shows that the current definition of health utility emphasizes decision-making processes, deploys personal preferences, assumes psychological egoism, and attempts to objectively and cardinally measure utility...

The distinction between hard and soft skills has long been a topic of debate in the field of psychology, with hard skills referring to technical or practical abilities, and soft skills relating to interpersonal capabilities. This paper explores the generic composition of any skill, proposing a unified framework that consists of five distinct components: knowledge, active cognition, conation, affection, and sensory-motor abilities. Building upon previous research and theories, such as Hilgard's "Trilogy of Mind", the generic skill components approach aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the structure and composition of any skill, whether hard or soft...

Previous studies show that the QAnon conspiracy theory is especially popular among American evangelical Christians. The paper investigates the reasons behind this relationship. We hypothesize a mediation relationship between evangelical dogma and how it is practiced on the one hand and the susceptibility for conspiracy thinking on the other hand. We argue that evangelicalism due to its biblicism is characterized by the belief that its perception of reality holds absolute truth (nomization), that the world can be clearly divided into good and evil (Manichaeism), and that salvation can be achieved through political means (immanent eschatology)...

More and more users are overusing social media and the situation is getting worse, yet there is still a lack of research on social media addiction. Based on attachment theory and the Cognition-Affect-Conation (CAC) framework, this study combines the perception of intrinsic motivation and the technical features of social media as extrinsic motivators and explores the formative factors in social media addiction. The results show that social media addiction is determined by an individual's emotional and functional attachment to the platform, and that attachment is in turn influenced by intrinsic motivation (perceived enjoyment and perceived relatedness) and extrinsic motivation (functional support and information quality)...

The specific conation of our research is to invent a series of indole derivatives containing a 4,5-dihydro-1 H -pyrazoline motif with effective antiviral activity. The anti-potato virus Y (PVY) activities of target compounds were systematically investigated. Most target compounds exhibited good PVY activities. Compound D40 , which exhibited outstanding anti-PVY activities, was sieved using a three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship. Based on the anti-PVY activity assessments, the curative and protective activities of D40 were found to be 64...

Livestreaming commerce has become the mainstream of e-commerce in recent years. The key difference between livestreaming commerce and traditional e-commerce lies in the presence of the streamer. Improving the onco-functional balance has always been a challenge in glioma surgery, especially regarding motor function. Given the importance of conation (i.e., the willingness which leads to action) in patient's quality of life, we propose here to review the evolution of its intraoperative assessment through a reminder of the increasing knowledge of its neural foundations-based upon a meta-networking organization at three levels. Historical preservation of the primary motor cortex and pyramidal pathway (first level), which was mostly dedicated to avoid hemiplegia, has nonetheless shown its limits to prevent the occurrence of long-term deficits regarding complex movement...

Furthermore, the roles of communication overload and privacy invasion between network externalities and discontinued use intentions have not been thoroughly examined...

The MCGM aims to examine more comprehensively the moral virtue of gratitude as a construct with 3 components (emotional, conative/attitudinal, and behavioral) distributed across 6 subscales. We translated the MCGM into Spanish and validated the factor structure in a principal component analysis, basing the analysis on the 6 subscales...
