Animal and experimental data suggest that anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) serves as a marker of ovarian reserve and inhibits the growth of ovarian tumors. However, few epidemiologic studies have examined the association between AMH and ovarian cancer risk. We conducted a nested case-control study of 302 ovarian cancer cases and 336 matched controls from nine cohorts. Prediagnostic blood samples of premenopausal women were assayed for AMH using a picoAMH enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using multivariable-adjusted conditional logistic regression...

OBJECTIVES: Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) is a marker of the activity of recruitable ovarian follicles. It is useful in the prediction of ovarian reserve. Women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) have elevated circulating and intrafollicular AMH levels. Laparoscopic ovarian drilling (LOD) in patients with PCOS destroys ovarian androgen-producing tissue and reduces their peripheral conversion to estrogens. Identifying factors that determine the response of patients with PCOS to LOD will help in selecting the patients who would likely benefit from this treatment...

BACKGROUND: It is essential to determine the cut-off value of serum anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) to predict the hyper response in assisted reproductive technology (ART). There are few studies mentioning the cut-off value for the hyper response in infertile women but not specifically for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and non-PCOS groups. With this in background, this study was conducted. AIM: To determine the cut-off value of serum AMH to predict the hyper response in women with PCOS and non-PCOS undergoing a controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) in ART...

CONTEXT: Human and animal data suggest that low vitamin D (25-hydroxyvitamin D) status is associated with impaired fertility, endometriosis, and polycystic ovary syndrome. Vitamin D regulates antimullerian hormone (AMH), FSH, mRNA, and expression of genes in reproductive tissues, implicating a role in female reproduction. AIMS: To study the vitamin D levels in infertile females and to know the correlation of vitamin D deficiency (VDD) with serum AMH in infertile females compare to fertile females...

The mechanisms of sex determination and differentiation in fish are highly divergent with a broad range of gonadal differentiation types from hermaphroditism to gonochorism. Multiple triggers regulate the process of sexual differentiation including genetic or environmental factors (temperature, light, hormones and/or pH value, etc.). In recent years, with the advances of molecular technologies and genetic engineering approaches, there are significant breakthroughs in identifying the master genes of vertebrate sex determination and differentiation...

Angiomyomatous hamartoma of lymph nodes (AMH-LN) is an uncommon benign proliferation of smooth muscle, blood vessels, collagenous stroma and adipocytes, most commonly affecting inguinal LN. A similar constellation of cell types constitutes various members of the perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa) family, including lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) which can involve LN in women. Because some LN-LAM patients have tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and/or other PEComa family lesions, it is clinically relevant to distinguish LN-LAM from AMH-LN...

Spermatogenesis is a fundamental process in male reproductive biology, and depends on precise balance between self-renewal and differentiation of male germ cells. However, the regulative factors for controlling the balance are poorly understood. In this study, we examined the roles of amh and dmrt1 in male germ cell development by generating their mutants with Crispr/Cas9 technology in zebrafish. Amh mutant zebrafish displayed a female-biased sex ratio, and both male and female amh mutants developed hypertrophic gonads due to uncontrolled proliferation and impaired differentiation of germ cells...

Cortisol is the main glucocorticoid in fish and the hormone most directly associated with stress. Recent research suggests that this hormone may act as a key factor linking social environmental stimuli and the onset of sex change by initiating a shift in steroidogenesis from estrogens to androgens. For many teleost fish, sex change occurs as a usual part of the life cycle. Changing sex is known to enhance the lifetime reproductive success of these fish and the modifications involved (behavioral, gonadal, morphological) are well studied...

The regulation of AMH production by follicular cells is poorly understood. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the oocyte-secreted factors, growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) and bone morphogenetic protein 15 (BMP15), on AMH production in primary human cumulus cells. Cumulus cells from IVF patients were cultured with a combination of GDF9, BMP15, recombinant FSH, and specific signaling inhibitors. Stimulation with GDF9 or BMP15 separately had no significant effect on AMH mRNA levels. In contrast, simultaneous stimulation with GDF9 and BMP15 (G+B) resulted in a significant increase in AMH mRNA expression...

BACKGROUND: The Mullerian ducts are the embryological precursors of the female reproductive tract, including the uterus; anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) has a key role in the regulation of foetal sexual differentiation. Anti-Mullerian hormone inhibits endometrial tumour growth in experimental models by stimulating apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. To date, there are no prospective epidemiologic data on circulating AMH and endometrial cancer risk. METHODS: We investigated this association among women premenopausal at blood collection in a multicohort study including participants from eight studies located in the United States, Europe, and China...

The need for fertility treatment in Denmark is increasing, one of the main causes being postponed parenthood. Ovarian reserve is determined by the anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) level and by antral follicle count. Both tests can predict the ovarian response to gonadotropin treatment prior to in vitro fertilization (IVF) and are used to individualize ovarian stimulation to achieve an appropriate number of follicles and to avoid ovarian hyperstimulation. A new assay detects low values of AMH and may predict who will benefit from IVF, and who should be referred directly to oocyte donation...

The number of oocytes retrieved in in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles is an independent factor influencing pregnancy rate (PR), and optimal number of oocytes would be between 10 and 15. This has led to the hypothesis that the identification of a suboptimal group of responders beforehand (4-9 oocytes retrieved) would allow physicians to optimize their PR. A retrospective observational study counting on 735 women doing an IVF treatment in our center was performed. Multivariable logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and antral follicle count (AFC), within suboptimal and optimal responders...
