We present two years of our surgical experience in the Gastroenterologic department of General Hospital of Mexico city; we studied prospectively 23 patients with choledocholithiasis diagnosed preoperatively and postoperatively, 18 females (78%) and 5 males (22%). Diagnosis were performed preoperatively by sonogram, intravenous cholangiography and/or endoscopic retrograde pancreatocholangiography in 19 cases, and postoperatively in four cases. In 22 cases we performed colecistectomy with choledocotomy, extraction of calculi and placement of a "T" biliary catheter...

The treatment of pelvic adhesions has been the first and more successful indication for operative laparoscopy. Frequently this intervention is the first step of others laparoscopic procedures. The different modalities of these interventions, i.e. by electrocautery or by scissor, or by laser are discussed. Among indications of operative laparoscopy for pelvic pathology the treatment of endometrial implants has been considered. In this paper less frequent indications for operative laparoscopy as pelvic abscess, or complementary operation as appendicectomy and colecistectomy are also discussed...

Choledochal cyst are a rare congenital abnormality, seldom treated by the General Surgeon. We report six cases of re-operation found on a eighth year period. Six cysts type I, and one type II (Todani's Classification) were found. On five of them, an internal derivation had been performed, in one patient only a celiotomy was performed, and in another one a colecistectomy. Complete resection of the cyst was performed in six cases. In one female patient, this was impossible, because a carcinoma was found, she died postoperatively...

Meso-renal shunt (MRS) has been designed for patients with biliary cirrhosis and portal hypertension, in whom the derivation of the portal flow must be done prior to the biliary surgery. We performed the MRS in five patients. In three due to secondary biliary cirrhosis, one case due to criptogenic cirrhosis and the last presenting cavernomatous degeneration of the portal vein. After the MRS one patient died 33 days later due to acute liver failure and hepatorenal syndrome. Of the survivors three are enjoying normal lifestyle, one of them was underwent colecistectomy and coledocostomy without any surgical problems...

23 patients whose weight varied from ninety-eight to 220 kilos were subjected to four different types of jejuno-ileal by pass operations: terminal-lateral (14 X 4) in three, terminal-terminal (14 X 4) in fifteen, (12 X 8) in two, and (10 X 8) in three. The defunctionalized intestine was anastomized to the transverse colon. Liver, jejenum and ileal biopsies as well as profilactic apendectomy were performed in all the cases along with colecistectomy when possible. All our patients were carefully studied in the pre and postoperative periods...
