Bone marrow adipocytes (BMAs) derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are an active and significant element of the bone marrow microenvironment. AIM: We review relevant anatomy of the iliac crest, and describe an interventional technique to maximize harvesting of desired progenitor cells with ultrasound to guide safe trochar placement.
