Optimal choice of delivery site after a diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD) improves neonatal mortality and morbidity. We report the CHU of Liège experience and review the international recommendations. Between 2011 and 2016, 54 fetuses were diagnosed with CHD in our service. Retrospectively we estimated the appropriateness of the site of delivery considering the postnatal outcome. We confronted our experience with the recent international recommendations for in utero transfer to a tertiary center...

Entresto was recommanded by major guidelines as the frontline therapy for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction since its clinical benefit was proved by the PARADIGM-HF trial. Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors are the cornerstone of the treatment of HF. Varying incidences of first-dose hypotension have been reported and recognized as a potential limiting factor for prescribing. According to previous reports, the onset of hypotension mostly occur 3-5 hours after the first dose. However, the pattern of entresto-related hypotension has not been reported...

Technological innovations in the fields of medical imaging and communication have enabled the rise of dental telemedecine. By transforming the usual caring relationship, dental telemedicine virtualizes the medical procedure and generates a mutation of the classical relational model that rearticulates the relationship between the dentist and the patient. It introduces a positive lever that must stay up to the appraisal of the benefit-risk equation, that an ethical questioning will help to evaluate for every patient...

The concept of patient engagement is receiving a growing attention in the healthcare field. The last decades have seen a deep revision of care models in the aim of a greater acknowledge of the patient role, seen as an expert actor, in the healthcare process. On the other side, healthcare systems are facing a growing request for participation expressed by citizens and patients. People claim for being more involved in all the crucial turning point of their healthcare journey and of being better aware of their right and duties...

Patients with chronic hepatitis B infection are at risk of viral reactivation when treated by immuno- or chemotherapy, with potentially serious or even fatal consequences. This article proposes an overview on screening strategies and antiviral treatment recommendations for oncology patients. We have learned in hematology that reactivations are commun with rituximab and prophylactic treatment is recommanded for any patient who has been in contact with the virus. The risk appears to be lower with cytotoxics but has been far less studied...

New developments in breast cancer radiotherapy make possible new standards in treatment recommandations based on international guidelines. Developments in radiotherapy irradiation techniques from 2D to 3D-Conformal RT and to IMRT (Intensity Modulated Arc Therapy) make possible to reduce the usual side effects on the organs at risk as: skin, lung, miocard, bone, esophagus and brahial plexus. Dispite of all these progresses acute and late side effects are present. Side effects are as old as the radiotherapy was used...

BACKGROUND: Patient data, such as electronic health records or adverse event reporting systems, constitute an essential resource for studying Adverse Drug Events (ADEs). We explore an original approach to identify frequently associated ADEs in subgroups of patients. RESULTS: Because ADEs have complex manifestations, we use formal concept analysis and its pattern structures, a mathematical framework that allows generalization using domain knowledge formalized in medical ontologies...

OBJECTIVE: Remarkable difference in cellular activity was found between early and late subpassaged embryonic stem cell (ESCs) lines, which can be created by subtle changes in cell manipulation protocol. This study subsequently examined whether post-thaw subculture of early subpassaged ESC lines could further affect the activity of the ESCs. METHODS: Fresh (as a control treatment) or cryopreserved F1 hybrid (B6CBAF1) early ESC lines (C57BL/6xCBA) of the 4 (P4) or the 19 passage (P19) were subcultured once, twice or six times under the same condition...

The University of Québec in Montréal has agreements with trade unions providing access to university resources. Researchers involved in this program worked in partnership with union women's and health and safety committees for more than twenty years. Not all studies succeeded in improving women's working conditions. One joint project involved observational studies of tasks done by health-care workers, complemented by interviews and questionnaires. We found that task assignments, movements, postures, and work-related musculoskeletal disorders varied by gender/sex and made recommendations for change...
