Clonostachys rosea is a mycoparasitic fungus used for biological control of plant diseases. Its genome contains 31 genes putatively encoding for polyketide synthases (PKSs), 75% of which are arranged in biosynthetic gene clusters. Sarcocystis sarcocysts are common in many species of domestic and wild animals. Here, we report sarcocystosis in muscles from 91 free range elk (Cervus elaphus) from Pennsylvania, USA, tested by histopathology, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and DNA sequencing. We present a measurement of the effective weak mixing angle parameter sin^{2}θ_{eff}^{ℓ} in pp[over ¯]→Z/γ^{*}→μ^{+}μ^{-} events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider and corresponding to 8.6  fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity. Extraction of vesicant class of chemical warfare agents (CWAs) such as sulfur mustard and nitrogen mustards from the environmental matrices is of prime importance, from a forensic and verification viewpoint of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). For extraction of Convention Related Compounds from nonpolar organic medium, commercially available silica cartridges are used extensively, but silica cartridges exhibit limited efficiency toward vesicant classes of compounds. It is expected that sulfur mustard being nonpolar does not retain sufficiently on silica surface, and nitrogen mustards (being basic) are strongly adsorbed on acidic silica surface, resulting in their poor recoveries...

An approximate inverse scattering technique is proposed for reconstructing cross-sectional area variation along water pipelines to deduce the size and position of blockages. The technique allows the reconstructed blockage profile to be written explicitly in terms of the measured acoustic reflectivity. It is based upon the Born approximation and provides good accuracy, low computational complexity, and insight into the reconstruction process. NSC 95397, a quinone-based small molecule compound, has been identified as an inhibitor for dual-specificity phosphatases, including mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase-1 (MKP-1).
