Metastases to the breast from extramammary sources are extremely rare, with the ovary, primarily high-grade serous carcinoma, being the most common origin. We report a case of breast metastases from advanced stage ovarian mucinous carcinoma in a 48-year-old female- a case hitherto unreported in the literature. The case is noteworthy for its atypical presentation marked by an areolar rash, clinically suggestive of Paget disease of the nipple. This unique clinical scenario, coupled with histopathological examination revealing in-situ -like carcinoma component, posed a diagnostic challenge in discerning the tumour origin...

BACKGROUND: Extramammary Paget disease is a relatively rare and less malignant intraepithelial adenocarcinoma. t is found in areas with abundant distribution of apocrine sweat glands such as the external genitalia, external genitalia, and perianal area, with fewer armpits. The disease progresses slowly and is prone to misdiagnosis in clinical practice. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed a female patient. She had a left axillary mass for more than 2 years. Recently, the mass increased and the surface skin was ulcerated...

BACKGROUND: Nipple adenoma is a relatively rare benign disease. Clinically, it often presents with nipple erosions, and it should be differentiated from Paget's disease. CASE PRESENTATION: The patient was a 63-year-old woman who complained of a lump in her left nipple for more than 30 years. Computed tomography performed for screening congestive heart failure suggested a left nipple mass of 40 mm in size. Needle biopsy revealed nipple adenoma, and skin biopsy was also performed to confirm the diagnosis...

This is a case of a previously healthy 29-year-old female with erythema and skin excoriations of the left breast nipple-areolar complex (NAC). After a repeat trial and failure of topical hydrocortisone, a diagnostic mammogram and nipple biopsy revealed Paget's disease (PD) of the nipple with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). A subsequent genetic analysis found a breast cancer 2 ( BRCA2 ) gene mutation. Treatment consisted of a left breast skin-sparing simple mastectomy with sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy and immediate tissue expander placement for implant reconstruction...

INTRODUCTION AND SIGNIFICANCE: Intraductal papilloma (IDP) is a benign breast lesion characterized by a small, delicate wart-like growth found within the milk ducts. Typically located centrally behind the nipple, IDP often presents with a serous, serosanguinous, or bloody discharge from the nipple, making it a common cause of abnormal nipple discharge. Differential diagnosis is crucial as it can be mistaken for other conditions such as pigmented Paget's disease and pigmented basal cell carcinoma...

The nipple-areolar complex (NAC), a unique anatomic structure of the breast, encompasses the terminal intramammary ducts and skin appendages. Several benign and malignant diseases can arise within the NAC. As several conditions have overlapping symptoms and imaging findings, understanding the distinctive nipple anatomy, as well as the clinical and imaging features of each NAC disease process, is essential. A multimodality imaging approach is optimal in the presence or absence of clinical symptoms. The authors review the ductal anatomy and anomalies, including congenital abnormalities and nipple retraction...

BACKGROUND: Although trichorhinophalangeal syndrome type 1 (TRPS1) was initially thought to be highly sensitive and specific for carcinomas and mesenchymal tumors of mammary origin, more recent data suggest its expression is not limited to breast neoplasms but also can be seen in other cutaneous neoplasms, such as extramammary Paget disease and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in situ. METHODS: Two-hundred cases of non-melanocytic cutaneous neoplasm, including basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) (n = 41), SCCs (n = 35), Merkel cell carcinomas (MCCs) (n = 25), and adnexal neoplasms (n = 99), were tested for TRPS1 expression using a monoclonal anti- TRPS1 rabbit anti-human antibody...

The aim of this study is to evaluate the imaging findings of breast cancer in women under the age of 40 and analyze their pathological patterns. BACKGROUND: For patients undergoing posttreatment surveillance after ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), the NCCN Guidelines for Breast Cancer recommend annual breast imaging and physical examination every 6 to 12 months for 5 years, and then annually. The aim of our study was to evaluate the modes of detection (imaging, patient reported, or physical examination) of second cancers in a cohort of patients undergoing surveillance after primary DCIS treatment to better inform surveillance recommendations...

Mammary Paget disease is a rare form of breast cancer, which typically presents as an eczematous plaque on the nipple or surrounding skin. It is often a clinical diagnosis that is confirmed with skin biopsy. Histologic hallmarks of mammary Paget disease include large, pleomorphic, malignant, ductal epithelial cells within the epidermis. Chronic lichenoid inflammation may be seen in the papillary dermis but is not diagnostic. Because mammary Paget disease often overlies ductal carcinoma in situ or invasive carcinoma of the breast, prompt bilateral mammography is warranted...

Pigmented mammary Paget disease is a rare variant of mammary Paget disease that is often clinically misdiagnosed as a melanocytic lesion of the skin or nipple-areolar complex. Careful morphological assessment, along with the performance of adequate immunohistochemical stains, will help in achieving the right diagnosis and avoiding misdiagnosis of the entity as malignant melanoma. We report a rare case of pigmented mammary Paget disease with concomitant colonization of the underlying invasive ductal carcinoma by melanocytes mimicking melanoma...

INTRODUCTION: Breast disease management has changed over recent decades, related to molecular subtype, oncoplastic surgery and targeted therapies. Nevertheless, literature on Paget's disease of the breast (PDB), initially described as a clinical entity and now considered a multifocal/multicentric disease. METHODS: PDB was classified as clinical in the presence of areolar abnormalities and as subclinical/pathological in all other cases. A cutaneous horn, referred to as a cornu cutaneum in Latin, presents as a mound of keratinizing epithelium. The etiology of the cutaneous horn is associated with the lesion at its base. In addition to numerous benign and malignant neoplasms, cutaneous horns may be related to infections and skin conditions. The features of a 22-year-old woman with a cutaneous horn associated with a recalcitrant verruca vulgaris on her left fifth toe are described. In addition, the characteristics of a 57-year-old man with an inverted follicular keratosis-related cutaneous horn on his upper lip are reported...
