The skin malignant neoplasms constitute one of significant problems of public health. The increasing of morbidity and mortality of melanoma and other types of skin cancers is registered. The early detection of disease assures mortality decreasing and increases survival of patients. The purpose of the study is to develop optimal model of organizational and preventive measures of early diagnostic of malignant skin tumors. The comprehensive study was carried out, which included assessment of survey of patients using questionnaire "Melanoma Diagnosis Day"...

The exploration of molecular genetic mechanisms that underlie carcinogenesis, hereditary factors of various oncological diseases, including basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer is especially actual and significant for target strategies of public health. The diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma is based on complex clinical, radiologic and genetic examination data. The further research in the field of somatic or hereditary mutations in genes associated with basal cell carcinoma, including Patched 1 (PTCH1), Patched 2 (PTCH2), Smoothed (SMO) continue to be topical...

The maintenance of health of residents of the Northern Regions of Russia, including those living in the Arctic zone of the cbountry, is a condition of its advance development in XXI century. The percentage of Russian citizen vaccinated against the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) does not exceed 50% after beginning of implementation of vaccination program. It can be conditioned by lower level of both of credence of citizen to health care system and health literacy.Purpose of the study is to establish determinants of vaccination of population against COVID-19 in circumpolar region of Russia as exemplified by the Arkhangelsk Oblast...

The highly dynamic nature of chromatin's structure, due to the epigenetic alterations of histones and DNA, controls cellular plasticity and allows the rewiring of the epigenetic landscape required for either cell differentiation or cell (re)programming. To dissect the epigenetic switch enabling the programming of a cancer cell, we carried out wide genome analysis of Histone 3 (H3) modifications during osteogenic differentiation of SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells. The most significant modifications concerned H3K27me2/3, H3K9me2, H3K79me1/2, and H3K4me1 that specify the process of healthy adult stem cell differentiation...

BACKGROUND: Development of meningiomas correlating with irradiation has been described in the last century. Different biological features of radiation-induced meningiomas depending on dose and type of irradiation have been observed in recent years. MATERIAL AND METHODS: There were 8848 patients (women - 74.3%) with intracranial meningiomas for the period from 2000 to 2014 who underwent surgery at the Burdenko Neurosurgical Center. Radiation-induced meningiomas were identified in 33 patients (13 (38%) men and 20 (62%) women) aged 16-76 years (median 56 years)...

BACKGROUND: BAP1 syndrome is an autosomal dominant hereditary cancer syndrome associated with increased risk of malignant mesothelioma; uveal and cutaneous melanoma; kidney cancer; lung adenocarcinoma; meningioma; basaliomas; and breast, ovarian, and prostate tumors. The BAP1 gene (BRCA1-associated protein 1) is a tumor suppressor gene involved in DNA repair via homologous recombination. BAP1 regulates the cell cycle, differentiation, DNA damage responses, and cell proliferation through deubiquitination...

BACKGROUND: Keratinocyte cancers are malignant diseases with a broad incidence of spread which tends to increase during the last couple of decades. The solar radiation plays a dominant role in the occurrence of BCC, but certain genetic phenotypes appear to be risky from an etiological point of view. Metatypical basal cell carcinoma (MTBCC) is a rare variant of BCC which combines the clinical and histological characteristics of BCC and SCC. Clinically they are indistinguishable from the conventional BCC, and only the histological examination can differentiate them...

Background and purpose - Metal-on-metal (MoM) total hip arthroplasty (THA) and hip resurfacing arthroplasty (HRA) have been widely used during the early 21st century. We assessed the midterm risk of cancer of patients treated with modern MoM hip implants compared with patients with non-MoM hip implants and the general Finnish population with special interest in soft tissue sarcomas and basalioma due to the findings of our previous report. Patients and methods - All large-diameter head MoM THAs and hip resurfacings performed in Finland between 2001 and 2010 were extracted from the Finnish Arthroplasty Register (10,728 patients)...

The Gorlin-Goltz syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant hereditary condition, with complete penetrance and variable expressivity. Characterized by the appearance of multiple basaliomas, and often the development of keratocyst, it can also express itself by the presence of palmar/plantar depressions, calcification of brain sickle, and skeletal birth defects, although less frequently. This article presents two cases involving direct relatives, referred after the identification of several basaliomas and jaw cysts...

He presented in the dermatologic policlinic for diagnosis and therapy of two additional, newly-formed pigmented lesions, and because of an uncomfortable, itchy, burning sensation in the area where lesions had been treated years before. Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) also known as basalioma or basal cell cancer, is the most common skin cancer. BCC has a very low metastatic risk. This tumor can cause significant disfigurement by invading surrounding tissues. It occurs mainly in fair-skinned patients with a family history of this cancer. Sunlight is a factor in about two-thirds of these cancers. Standard surgical excision is the treatment of choice. Mohs micrographic surgery is an outpatient or inpatient procedure in which the tumor is surgically excised and then immediately examined under a microscope...

AIM: In the contemporary medicine, strong emphasis is put on early closing of body surface defects, which contributes to good and early healing, but, of course, closes the entrance gate for possible infection as well. The easiest closing of the defect is the direct suture of the emerged wound. But some defects are of such an extent, so their closure is necessary to handle other way than simple suture, e.g. by rotating flap plastic surgery. In the paper are evaluated results of flap surgery technique in 56 patients...
