Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder that is characterized by chronically elevated glucose caused by insulin resistance. Although T2DM is manageable through insulin therapy, the disorder itself is a risk factor for much more dangerous diseases including cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, retinopathy, Alzheimerâs disease, and more. T2DM affects 450 million people worldwide and is attributed to causing over 4 million deaths each year. Current methods for detecting diabetes typically involve testing a personâs glycated hemoglobin levels as well as blood sugar levels randomly or after fasting...

Tau protein can be released by neurons, an event linked to the propagation of Tau pathology in Alzheimer'disease (AD). Neuronal hyperexcitability was shown to significantly increase Tau release by neurons. We confirmed this in the present study. In a previous study, it was demonstrated that hyperexcitability induces Golgi apparatus dynamics resulting in its fragmentation. Our present results revealed that the increase of Tau secretion upon hyperexcitability could be significantly reduced by preventing Golgi dynamics through the inactivation of cdk5...

INTRODUCTION: Alzheimer's disease affects patients in time and space and all dimensions of emotional, cognitive and social life. It is, in return, an unprecedented threat for the family, a disaster for each member of the family. Because of the love story, because of the suffering, the disease remains the relationship between patient and caregiver. We try to approach their suffering according to the carer's reports. Our research, conducted with support from France Alzheimer, aims to understand the nuances of the experience of becoming the accompanying person, drawing on some key moments of this accompaniment...

The dementia conveys representations in term of loss, loss of knowledge, loss of cognition, loss of autonomy, loss of awareness of the deficits, with for consequencies a loss of exchanges and social withdrawal. Because of the difficulty for the patient to communicate his (her) feelings, it is difficult to understand his (her) experience of living. The analysis of speech through interviews realized with Alzheimer'disease patients, shows that the person who feels to enter a shape of abnormality, suffers from the loss of control of his/her existence, change of the relationships with the circle of acquaintances, other people's opinion, and social stigmatisation...
