In the V-shaped title Schiff base, C41 H50 N2 O4 , the planes of the benzene rings of the central di-phenyl-methane unit make a dihedral angle of 70.40 (5)°, whereas the planes of the neighbouring benzene and ortho -vanilin rings are twisted with respect to one another by dihedral angles of 75.76 (5) and 73.89 (6)°. The Schiff base displays intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O contacts.

A series of six novel imidazole anchored azo-imidazole derivatives (L1-L6) have been prepared by the simple condensation reaction of azo-coupled ortho-vaniline precursor with amino functionalised imidazole derivative and the synthesized derivatives (L1-L6) have been characterized by different analytical and spectroscopic techniques. Molecular docking studies were carried out to ascertain the inhibitory action of studied ligands (L1-L6) against the Main Protease (6LU7) of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The result of the docking of L1-L6 showed a significant inhibitory action against the Main protease (Mpro ) of SARS-CoV-2 and the binding energy (ΔG) values of the ligands (L1-L6) against the protein 6LU7 have found to be -7...

In this work, 11 novel compounds based on vaniline and benzylidenehydrazine structure were synthesized with various substituents on phenyl aromatic ring of the molecule and evaluated as tyrosinase inhibitors. These new derivatives showed significant anti-tyrosinase activities, among which 4i demonstrated to be the most potent compound, with IC50 values of 1.58 µM . The structure-activity relationship study of the novel constructed analogs was fully discussed. Kinetic study of compound 4i showed uncompetitive inhibition towards tyrosinase...

In this study, a permanganate/redox mediator system for enhanced transformation of a series of emerging contaminants was evaluated. The presence of various redox mediators (i.e., 1-hydroxybenzotriazole, N -hydroxyphthalimide, violuric acid, syringaldehyde, vanillin, 4-hydroxycoumarin, and p -coumaric acid) accelerated the degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) by Mn(VII). Since 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (HBT) exhibited the highest reactive ability, it was selected to further investigate the reaction mechanisms and quantify the effects of important reaction parameters on Mn(VII)/redox-mediator reactions with BPA and bisphenol AF (BPAF)...

The present study aimed to explore the variation in the essential oils (EOs) and phenolics of Heliotropium curassavicum collected from the coastal and inland habitats. Additionally, we determined their antioxidant and allelopathic activity against the weed, Chenopodium murale . Fifty-six compounds were identified as overall from EOs, from which 25 components were identified from the coastal sample, and 52 from the inland one...

Two discrete nitrate-bridged novel "pseudo-double-propeller"-shaped hexanuclear Cu/Ln clusters of the formula [Cu(4)Ln(2)L(4)L'(4)(NO(3))(2)(OH(2))(2)]·3NO(3)·4H(2)O [Ln = Dy, Gd; LH = o-vanilin; L'H = 2-(hydroxyethyl)pyridine] were synthesized and characterized. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed the trimeric half-propeller-type Cu(2)/Ln core connected to other opposite-handed similar trimers by a bridging nitrate ligand. The Dy analogue, [Cu(4)Dy(2)L(4)L'(4)(NO(3))(2)(OH(2))(2)]·3NO(3)·4H(2)O, shows frequency-dependent out-of-phase alternating-current magnetic susceptibility, which indicates that this novel discrete [Cu(4)Dy(2)] heterometallic cluster may exhibit single-molecule-magnet behavior...

Molecular structures of aroylhydrazones derived from salicylaldehyde, o-vanilin and nicotinic acid hydrazide in DMSO and DMSO/H(2)O mixtures have been studied by NMR, UV-Vis, ATR and Raman spectroscopy. The addition of water to the system did not induce the tautomeric conversion of the existing form constituted of the ketoamino hydrazide part and the enolimino aldehyde part, but it was involved in the formation of hydrated molecules. Vibrational spectra (ATR and Raman) clearly indicated hydrogen bonding of the studied hydrazones through the carbonyl, amino and hydroxyl groups with water molecules...
