Cancers are diagnosed in over few millions patients annually. Due to inter alia weak antigenicity as well as drug-fastness of most cancers, PDT can become an effective alternative or complementary method to surgery. Photodynamic method requires tree elements: photosensitizer, light energy source and oxygen. Photodynamic therapy is successfully used method in many clinics all over the world, also in Poland. PDT is used in treatment of oncological (cancers of head, neck, lung, oesophagus, pancreas, urinary bladder and ginecological cancers) as non oncological diseases (lischen sclerosus, staphylococcus aureus, papillomatosis)...

BACKGROUND/AIM: [corrected] Radical hysterectomy is a surgical approach for stage Ib and IIa of cervical cancer. The incidence of intraoperative injuries of the bladder during radical hysterectomy ranges from 0.4-3.7%. The ureter can be crushed, caught in sutures, transsected, obstructed by angulation, or ischemic by the stippling or periureteric fascia. Vesicovaginal and ureterovaginal fistuls are reported to develop in 0.9-2% of patients after radical abdominal hysterectomy. Fistulas usually become manifested or visible at speculum examination within 14 days following the surgery...

Carcinoma of the cervix is tha most common ginecologic cancer found during pregnancy. Management and treatment of this condition depend on cancer stage and estimated gestational age. Pregnancy represents an ideal time for cervical cancer screening, and all pregnant women presenting for prenatal care should be carefully examinated.
