Psoriasis is a clinically heterogeneous lifelong skin disease that presents in multiple forms such as plaque, flexural, guttate, pustular or erythrodermic. An estimated 60 million people have psoriasis worldwide, with 1.52% of the general population affected in the UK. An immune-mediated inflammatory disease, psoriasis has a major genetic component. Its association with psoriatic arthritis and increased rates of cardiometabolic, hepatic and psychological comorbidity requires a holistic and multidisciplinary care approach...

Erythrodermic psoriasis is an uncommon and severe variant of psoriasis which may be associated with rare and severe complications such as acute respiratory distress syndrome. Early recognition of this life-threatening condition can allow prompt appropriate treatment. We report the case of a 69-year-old man with a long history of psoriasis who developed acute respiratory distress during a disease flare-up. There was no relevant past history (except for mild emphysema), known allergy, or recent treatment. Chest X-ray revealed new bilateral infiltrates, confirmed at chest computed tomography scan...

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease affecting around 2-3 % of the population. The disease spectrum evolves from to the knees and elbows limited disease to erythrodermic psoriasis. The impact on the quality of life, the pruritus, the pain from palmo-plantar disease, arthropathic psoriasis and the comorbidities are the major complaints of the patients. The treatment relies on topical treatments with dermocorticosteroids with or without vitamin D derivatives, UVA or UVB phototherapy, conventional treatments including methotrexate, ciclosporin and acitretin, and, since around 15 years, biological treatments...

RATIONALE: Cases about IgAN associated with EP are rare and the pathogenesis is poorly understood. We reported a 74-year-old Chinese male who suffered the IgAN and EP at the same time and explored a possible pathophysiologic link and points toward the possible pathogenesis. PATIENT CONCERNS: The patient complained deteriorating symptoms (erythrodermia, skin pruritus, and pain) of psoriasis and obvious pitting edema on his legs. DIAGNOSIS: The patient was diagnosed as IgAN and EP concurrently according to medical history, physical examination, laboratory test, and pathology...

There is a known relationship between the use of immunosuppressive therapies and the development of lymphoproliferative malignancies. These lymphomas are mainly B-cell nonHodgkin's lymphomas associated with Epstein-Barr virus. Most cases concern classical immunosuppressive treatments including ciclosporin and methotrexate. A relationship between the new antitumour necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha agents and lymphoproliferative malignancies is debated. Patients with psoriasis on immunosuppressive therapies, mainly ciclosporin, are considered to have a low risk of developing lymphoid proliferation...
