Background: The skin rejuvenation potential of the autologous emulsified nanofat was studied by Tonnard et al . in 2013. This property is due to the viable adipose-derived stem cells present in the nanofat; although, there are no viable adipocytes. The aim of this study was to determine the aesthetic outcome of autologous emulsified nanofat injection in scars using a standardised and validated Patient Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) and photographs. Materials and Methods: A total of 34 patients with scars of varied aetiologies were included in the study as per inclusion criteria...

BACKGROUND/AIMS: The rejuvenation properties of nanofat grafting have been described in recent years. However, it is not clear whether the clinical efficacy of the procedure is attributable to stem cells or linked to other components of adipose tissue. In this study we isolated nanofat-derived stem cells (NFSCs) to observe their biological characteristics and evaluate the efficacy of precise intradermal injection of nanofat combined with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in patients undergoing facial rejuvenation treatment...

BACKGROUND: Adipose-derived stem cells, endothelial progenitor cells, and soluble factors jointly contribute to the regenerative effect of fat grafts. Nanofat grafting emulsifies the lipoaspirate and increases the progenitor cell yield. In the present study, the authors evaluated their extended nanofat grafting method that includes two additional centrifugation steps and results in a lipoaspirate of low volume that they termed "lipoconcentrate." Furthermore, the authors investigated the oily fractions after centrifugation for their regenerative potential...

Background: Fat grafting technologies are popularly used in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Due to its size limitation, it is hard to directly inject untreated fat tissue into the dermal layer. Nanofat, which was introduced by Tonnard, solves this problem by mechanically emulsifying fat tissue. However, the viability of the cells was greatly destroyed. In this study, we reported a new method by "gently" digesting the fat tissue to produce viable adipocytes, progenitors, and stromal stem cells using collagenase I digestion and centrifugation...

AIM: Recently, a new fat grafting technique termed 'nanofat grafting' was proposed which improved tissue repair by the stem cells contained in the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) of nanofat. Here, we reported the clinical outcomes of different nanofat procedures in the treatment of scars in relation with SVF cell yield. METHODS: Three different modified nanofat grafting procedures (supercharged-, evo- and centrifuged-modified nanofat) were compared with the classic nanofat method, and histological analysis was performed to assess skin regeneration...

Background: Autologous fat grafting is commonly used for soft-tissue augmentation and reconstruction. However, this technique is limited by a high rate of graft absorption. Thus, approaches to improve fat graft survival that promote neovascularization are of great interest. Nanofat has several beneficial features that may render it more suitable for clinical applications than other stem-cell based approaches. Objectives: We aimed to determine whether nanofat could enhance new vessel formation and improve the long-term retention of fat grafts...

Traditional autologous fat transplantation is a common surgical procedure for treating facial soft tissue depression and skin aging. However, the transplanted fat is easily absorbed, reducing the long-term efficacy of the procedure. Here, we examined the efficacy of nanofat-assisted autologous fat structural transplantation. Nanofat-derived stem cells (NFSCs) were isolated, mechanically emulsified, cultured, and characterized. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) enhanced proliferation and adipogenic differentiation of NFSCs in vitro...

Different strategies have been developed in the last decade to obtain fat grafts as rich as possible of mesenchymal stem cells, so exploiting their regenerative potential. Recently, a new kind of fat grafting, called "nanofat", has been obtained after several steps of fat emulsification and filtration. The final liquid suspension, virtually devoid of mature adipocytes, would improve tissue repair because of the presence of adipose mesenchymal stem cells (ASCs). However, since it is probable that many ASCs may be lost in the numerous phases of this procedure, we describe here a novel version of fat grafting, which we call "nanofat 2...

BACKGROUND: Optimization of fat grafting continues to gain increasing attention in the field of regenerative medicine. "Nanofat grafting" implements mechanical emulsification and injection of standard lipoaspirate for the correction of superficial rhytides and skin discoloration; however, little is known about the cellular constituents of the graft. Based on recent evidence that various stressors can induce progenitor activity, the authors hypothesized that the shear forces used in common fat grafting techniques may impact their regenerative capacities...
