BACKGROUND: In this systematic review, we aimed to synthesise existing research on the phenomenology of mental imagery among high worriers compared to healthy individuals, and to characterise the nature and effectiveness of existing imagery-related interventions in treatment of worry. METHODS: PsycInfo, CENTRAL, EMBASE, Medline, Medline Epub, and PubMed were searched for studies examining the relationship between worry/GAD and mental imagery, or interventions using imagery in treatment of worry/GAD...

BACKGROUND: Over the past decade, artificial intelligence (AI) has expanded significantly with increased adoption across various industries, including medicine. Recently, AI-based large language models such as Generative Pretrained Transformer-3 (GPT-3), Bard, and Generative Pretrained Transformer-3 (GPT-4) have demonstrated remarkable language capabilities. While previous studies have explored their potential in general medical knowledge tasks, here we assess their clinical knowledge and reasoning abilities in a specialized medical context...

In this study, we report the synthetic method of two distinct supramolecular metallogels, namely Mn-BDA and Cd-BDA, using Mn(II) acetate tetrahydrate, Cd(II) acetate dihydrate and butane-1,4-dicarboxylic acid (BDA). DMF, a polar aprotic solvent, was immobilized in both metallogel-networks for their synthesis. The metallogelation of Mn-BDA was successfully attained through the instant mixing of a Mn(II)-source and BDA in DMF solvent media. By applying ultrasonication, a Cd-BDA metallogel was prepared. The stoichiometry of gel-forming components concerning metal salts and the LMWG are accountable to obtain respective stable metallogels...

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical effect and safety of transurethral 1470 nm semiconductor laser vaporization and cutting in the treatment of super high age and high risk benign prostatic hyperplasia. METHODS: The clinical data of 38 patients with super-high-risk prostate who underwent transurethral surgery in our hospital from April 2016 to December 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients had obvious progressive dysuria. The diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia was confirmed by urinary color Doppler ultrasound, anal finger examination, PSA, prostate biopsy, etc...

RATIONALE: With the accelerating process of population aging, the comorbidity of chronic disease (CCD) has become a major public health problem that threatens the health of older adults. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess whether CCD is associated with basic activities of daily living (BADL) and explore the factors influencing BADL in older adults. METHOD: A cross-sectional community health survey with stratified random sampling among older residents (≥60 years old) was conducted in 2022...

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a common and critical clinical condition characterized by diffuse damage to the lung interstitium, alveoli, and increased permeability of pulmonary blood vessels. CT can be used to assess the imaging features, severity, and prediction of ARDS, but it requires patient transportation to the CT room and is only a static examination. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is an increasingly widely used monitoring tool in clinical applications in recent years. It enables continuous real-time assessment of lung ventilation distribution at the bedside and has high clinical value in optimizing mechanical ventilation parameters for critically ill patients...

5,6-Epoxy-cholesterols has been recently revealed to control metabolic pathway in breast cancer, which makes investigating their binding interaction with human serum albumin (HSA) an attractive field of research. The main aim of this article is to examine the binding interaction of 5,6 α-epoxy-cholesterol (5,6 α EC) and 5,6 β-epoxy-cholesterol (5,6 β- EC) with HSA using different spectroscopic methods and molecular modeling. These compounds interact with HSA via hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bonds with binding constants 6...

BACKGROUND: Many esophageal striated muscles of mammals are dually innervated by the vagal and enteric nerves. Recently, substance P (SP)-sensory nerve terminals with calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) were found on a few striated muscle fibers in the rat esophagus, implying that these muscle fibers are triply innervated. In this study, we examined the localization and origin of CGRP-nerve endings in striated muscles to consider their possible roles in the esophagus regarding triple innervation...

People's motivational processes, well-being, and performance are likely to be facilitated through the support of others. Self-determination theory argues that interpersonal supports for autonomy, competence, and relatedness are crucial to achieve these outcomes. In the present study, we provide a comprehensive examination of this formulation based on a meta-analytic database consisting of 4,561 effect sizes from 881 independent samples ( N = 443,556). Our results indicate that supports for autonomy, competence, and relatedness were strongly positively related with the satisfaction of these basic needs and strongly negatively related to their frustration...

Slippery slope argumentation features prominently in debates over assisted suicide. The jurisdiction of Oregon features prominently too, especially as regards parliamentary scrutiny of assisted suicide proposals. This paper examines Oregon's public data (including certain official pronouncements) on assisted suicide in light of the two basic versions of the slippery slope argument, the empirical and moral-logical versions. Oregon's data evidences some normatively interesting shifts in its assisted suicide practice which in turn prompts consideration of two elements of moral-logical slippage that are not widely discussed...

Ovarian cancer, which affects the female reproductive organs, is one of the most common types of cancer. Since this type of cancer has a high mortality rate from gynaecological cancers, the scientific community shows great interest in studies on its treatment. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical treatment methods are used in its treatment. In the absence of targeted treatments in these treatment methods, side effects occur in patients, and patients show resistance to the drug. In addition, the underlying causes of ovarian cancer are still not fully known...

OBJECTIVES: Sepsis poses a significant threat to human life, rendering it a burdensome medical disease. Despite significant advancements, the current state of medical science still lacks a viable and efficacious cure. Costunolide (COST) is a multifaceted sesquiterpene lactone that exhibits a range of actions, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. We investigated the potential impacts of COST on a rat sepsis model caused by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP).
