In this study, we report the antibacterial activity and modulation of antibiotic activity by Fe2 (MoO4 )3 microstructures obtained by the hydrothermal route without use of surfactants or organic additives. This material was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images. The XRD pattern showed that the Fe2 (MoO4 )3 crystallize in a monoclinic structure without secondary phases. Raman spectroscopy confirms the formation of Fe2 (MoO4 )3 . SEM images show that the Fe2 (MoO4 )3 obtained have ball-of-yarn shaped morphology...

The quantitative distribution of different species ( Q i jklm and H i jklmno ) in binary potassium molybdate melts has been investigated by in situ high temperature Raman spectroscopy in conjunction with quantum chemistry (QC) ab initio calculations. The symmetric stretching vibrational wavenumbers of molybdenum nonbridging oxygen bonds in high wavenumber range and their respectively corresponding Raman scattering cross sections were determined and analyzed. Deconvolution of the stretching bands of molybdenum nonbridging oxygen bonds of molten Raman spectra by using the Voigt function was carried out...

Rare earth (RE3+)-doped NaY(MoO4)2 nanocrystals are efficient materials for realizing multicolor emission, which plays an important role in displays, W-LEDs, solar cells and biolabeling. Up to now, research on the multicolor tuning properties of RE3+-doped NaY(MoO4)2 nanoparticles has mostly focused on traditional preparation routes such as the hydrothermal method and sol-gel process. However, the products obtained using these methods are usually large in size (on the micron/submicron scale) and agglomeration problems are inevitable...

Searching for cationic extended materials with a capacity for anion exchange resulted in a unique thorium molybdate chloride (TMC) with the formula of [Th(MoO4 )(H2 O)4 Cl]Cl·H2 O. The structure of TMC is composed of zigzagging cationic layers [Th(MoO4 )(H2 O)4 Cl]+ with Cl- as interlamellar charge-balancing anions. Instead of performing ion exchange, alkali thorium fluorides were formed after soaking TMC in AF (A = Na, K, and Cs) solutions. The mechanism of AF immobilization is elucidated by the combination of SEM-EDS, PXRD, FTIR, and EXAFS spectroscopy...

Ba1+ x MoO4 (-0.03 ≤ x ≤ 0.03) ceramics were fabricated by a conventional two-step sintering technique. X-ray diffraction patterns show that there appeared new diffraction peaks when x > 0, which were identified as Ba2 MoO5 . The Rietveld refinement results indicate that the unit cell volume is the largest at x = -0.02, because it has the lowest packing fraction and covalency. The far-infrared reflectivity (IR) spectra were fitted and analyzed for calculating the intrinsic properties, which comply well with the data obtained from microscopic polarizabilities and damping coefficient angle...

High-nuclearity silver clusters are appealing synthetic targets for their remarkable structures, but most are isolated serendipitously. We report here six giant silver-thiolate clusters mediated by solvents, which not only dictate the formation of an octahedral Ag6 4+ kernel, but also influence the in situ-generated Mo-based anion templates. The typical sevenfold symmetric silver nanowheels show a hierarchical cluster-in-cluster structure that comprises an outermost Ag56 shell and an inner Ag6 4+ kernel in the centre with seven MoO4 2- anion templates around it...

A sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor based on ion-imprinted chitosan-graphene nanocomposites (IIP-S) has been developed for the determination of Cr(VI). The ion-imprinted polymers were constructed by one-step electrodeposition. The morphology and structure of IIP-S were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR and EDS, respectively. Meanwhile, the electrochemical behavior of IIP-S was investigated using CV, EIS and DPV. The linear range of IIP-S was from 1.0 × 10-9 to 1.0 × 10-5  mol/L, with the low detection limit of 6...

Amongst all cement phases, hydrated calcium aluminate (AFm) plays a major role in the retention of anionic species. Molybdenum (Mo), whose 93 Mo isotope is considered a major steel activation product, will be released mainly under the form of MoO4 2- in a radioactive waste repository. Understanding its fate is of primary importance in a safety analysis of such disposal. This necessitates models that can both predict quantitatively the sorption of Mo by AFm and determine the nature of the sorption process (i...

In this article, we report the preparation and luminescence properties of a series of novel rare-earth doped KBaY(MoO4)3 phosphors. The XRD patterns for the as-prepared samples have been assigned to the pure KBaY(MoO4)3 phase. The Tb3+, Eu3+ and Sm3+ singly-doped phosphors all show good luminescence properties with their characteristic excitations and emissions. We have optimized the rare-earth ion doping concentrations, yielding the compositions KBaY0.60(MoO4):0.40Tb3+, KBaY0.50(MoO4):0.50Eu3+ and KBaY0.96(MoO4):0...

Zinc molybdate (ZM) is a safer anticorrosive additive for cooling systems when compared with chromates and lead salts, due to its insolubility in aqueous media. For most molybdate pigments, their molybdate anion (MoO4 -2 ) acts as an anionic inhibitor and its passivation capacity is comparable with chromate anion (CrO4 -2 ). To alleviate the environmental concerns involving chromates-based industrial protective coatings, we have proposed new alternative in this work. We have synthesized ZM nanocrystals via ultrasound-assisted process and encapsulated them within an epoxy/PDMS coating towards corrosion protection...

Eu3+ doped CdMoO4 super red emission phosphors with charge compensation were prepared by the traditional high temperature solid-state reaction method in air atmosphere. The interrelationships between photoluminescence properties and crystalline environments were investigated in detail. The 3D network structure which composed by CdO8 and MoO4 polyhedra can collect and efficiently transmit energy to Eu3+ luminescent centers. The relative distance between Eu3+ ions decreased and energy interaction increased sharply with the appearance of interstitial occupation of O2- ions ([Formula: see text])...

Propyl gallate (PG), one of the most widely used synthetic phenolic antioxidants in edible oil, cookies and fried food, has received extensive concern due to its possible toxic effects on human health. Herein, a novel fluorescence analytical method is firstly proposed to sensitively and selectively determine propyl gallate (PG) by utilizing the unique fluorescence quenching property of organic molybdate complex (OMC) formed by the specific reaction between MoO4 2- and PG to g-C3 N4 nanosheets. Under the optimum conditions, the developed fluorescence sensor allows highly sensitive detection of PG in a wide range from 0...

Based on a Mn/Mo-metal organic framework (MOF) precursor, [Mn(4,4'-bipyridine)0.5 MoO4]·1.5H2O, a MnS/MoS2/C hybrid was synthesized through a calcination and sulfurization approach and it is mainly constituted by MoS2/C nanorods and MnS/MoS2/C nanoflakes. The MnS/MoS2/C hybrid delivers a high specific capacitance of 1162 F g-1 at 0.5 A g-1 in 2 M KOH electrolyte, and it possesses a good rate capacity with a retention of 75.7% (880 F g-1) at 10 A g-1, which is due to the synergetic effects of the components MnS, MoS2 and carbon matrix in the hybrid material...

Structure, spectrophotometric and protolytic properties of the styryl dye 2-[4-(dimethylamino)styryl]-1-ethylquinolinium iodide (R) as well as its complex with tungsten were studied. The selective protonation of dimethylamino group was confirmed by density functional theory investigation through the computation of Fukui function, NPA partial atomic charges, and NICS(0) aromaticity indexes. The TD-DFT study explains the experimental change of color by excluding the dimethylamino group from HOMO orbital upon protonation...

Novel LiLa1-x-y(MoO4)2:xSm3+,yEu3+ (in short: LL1-x-yM:xSm3+,yEu3+) double molybdate red phosphors were synthesized by a solid-state reaction at as low temperature as 610 °C. The optimal doping concentration of Sm3+ in LiLa1-x(MoO4)2:xSm3+ (LL1-xM:xSm3+) phosphor is x = 0.05 and higher concentrations lead to emission quenching by the electric dipole-electric dipole mechanism. In the samples co-doped with Eu3+ ions, the absorption spectrum in the near ultraviolet and blue regions became broader and stronger than these of the Sm3+ single-doped samples...

This work concerns the polycrystalline red emitting solid state compound Li3 Ba2 (Tb1-x Eux )3 (MoO4 )8 , from which a series of powder samples was prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction. The phase formation of the samples was investigated by X-ray diffraction which revealed the formation of a solid solution without a miscibility gap. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra and decay curves were recorded as a function of Tb3+ and Eu3+ concentration and temperature. It turned out that the external quantum efficiency of Eu3+ photoluminescence is between 30 and 80%, while the highest quantum yield is achieved for about 60% Tb3+ ...
