INTRODUCTION: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a leading cause of chronic musculoskeletal pain among older adults. A common and costly intervention for the treatment of LSS is lumbar decompression with or without fusion (LSS surgery), which has mixed outcomes among patients.
