Peyronie's disease (PD) is a heterogeneous disorder with the classical penile symptoms of plaque formation, penile pain, deviation, penile shortening and erectile dysfunction. The etiology is unknown. Microtraumatic lesions with the development of an inelastic fibrous scar formation at the level of the tunica albuginea are discussed as a trigger mechanism besides a questionable genetically linked atypical wound healing. A non-surgical etiological treatment is not possible although several conservative treatment regimens are applied...

OBJECTIVE: To accurately characterize the effect of penile traction therapy (PTT) on stretched penile length (SPL) after primary treatment for men with PD. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic search was performed for studies that evaluated the correction of PD using penile traction as secondary treatment published through January 2018. Studies were included if 1) a singular primary treatment of PD (injection or surgical treatment) was performed for all included men, 2) if there was a control group with no adjunct traction, and 3) if patients were required to wear the traction device for greater than 2 hours per day...

BACKGROUND: Peyronie's Disease (PD) is an acquired connective tissue disorder that often leads to penile curvature (PC) and sexual dysfunction. Penile lengthening procedures (PLP) with four-layered porcine small intestinal submucosa graft (Surgisis® ES; Cook) have been widely used in patients with severe PC when erectile function is preserved. However, complications such as erectile dysfunction (ED) may limit treatment satisfaction. OBJECTIVES: Focusing on patients perspective, our study aims to evaluate longterm patient-reported outcomes, satisfaction, and dissatisfaction predictors after PLP...

Background: Ultrasound (US) has been a regular practice in emergency departments for several decades. Thus, train our students to US is of prime interest. Because US image acquisition ability can be very different from a patient to another (depending on image quality), it seems relevant to adapt US learning curves (LCs) to patient image quality using tools based on cumulative summation (CUSUM) as the risk-adjusted LC CUSUM (RLC). Objectives: The aim of this study was to monitor LC of medical students for the acquisition of abdominal emergency US views and to adapt these curves to patient image quality using RLC...

Ventral penile curvature in Peyronie's disease (PD) is not very common but may lead to inability for sexual intercourse, especially in severe cases > 60°. Ventral curvatures are most often addressed surgically with plication owing to fear of urethral complications, as it requires the mobilisation of the urethra. In this study, the ventral sealing technique is introduced for correction of ventral curvatures in patients with PD. The surgical approach includes the mobilisation of the neurovascular bundle and the urethra...

INTRODUCTION: Stem cell therapy using stromal vascular fraction (SVF) is a promising treatment modality. SVF is comprised of a mixture of adipose-derived stem cells, endothelial precursor cells, and immune modulatory cells that act synergistically to facilitate angiogenesis and epithelial cell differentiation. This makes SVF an attractive option for men's sexual disorders that require reconstitution of vasculature and endothelial lining, namely erectile dysfunction (ED) and Peyronie's disease (PD)...

Acute liver injury is an alarming condition, as it may lead to a devastating outcome. Of the many causes of acute liver injury, review of medications is crucial to identifying the cause of the injury. Some commonly used medications may unpredictably be the underlying cause of liver injury. We present a case of Peyronie's disease treated with potassium para-aminobenzoate that developed acute liver injury. After starting the new treatment, the patient complained of right upper quadrant pain. He was found to have elevated liver enzymes...
