PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a novel technique for removal of migrated esophageal stent (MES) under fluoroscopy. METHODS: From January 2009 to April 2023, 793 patients with a dysphagia score of 3-4 underwent esophageal stenting at our center, and 25 patients (mean age: 70.06 years old; male/female: 15/10) underwent stent removal using "loop method" under fluoroscopy. The primary outcomes were technical success and complications. The secondary outcomes were procedure time, radiation exposure, biochemical indicators [white blood cell (WBC), hemoglobin (Hb), platelet (PLT), albumin (ALB), alanine transaminase (ALT), total bilirubin (TB), urea nitrogen (UN) and C-reactive protein] of pre- and post-treatment at 2 weeks...

BACKGROUND: Endovascular treatment devices require compatible guide catheters to navigate complex vessels and anatomy. The Fubuki XF Long Sheath guide catheter (Fubuki XF) was developed with a 0.090-inch internal diameter with hydrophilic coating, an atraumatic rounded tip, and enhanced trackability and support with gradual shaft transition zones. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed a prospectively maintained database of neuroendovascular patients treated using Fubuki XF at our center (July 2022─May 2023)...

OBJECTIVE: Endovascular repair of chronic dissecting aortoiliac aneurysms is challenging given the rigid septum, compressed true lumen (TL), and target vessels frequently originating in the false lumen. We have used transcatheter electrosurgical aortic septotomy (TEAS) before stent graft implantation under intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and fusion guidance. The purpose of this study is to assess the outcomes of TEAS during complex endovascular repair of dissecting aneurysms. METHODS: From 2021 to 2023, 17 patients underwent TEAS...

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided choledochoduodenostomy (EUS-CD) has become a feasible alternative technique in cases of malignant bile duct obstruction, especially when the endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is not feasible or has failed. In the case of duodenal obstruction, when a duodenal stent has been initially placed, performing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography could be quite difficult with a low success rate. Thus, EUS-CD could be a good alternative. In this study, we present 2 particularly challenging endoscopic cases in which EUS-CD was performed with a lumen-apposing metal stent inserted through a previously placed duodenal stent...

May-Thurner syndrome (MTS) is caused by compression of the left common iliac vein by the right common iliac artery against the spinal column. It can range from asymptomatic or present with subtle and unspecific signs and symptoms and rarely exhibit severe complications such as pulmonary embolism (PE). The diagnosis is confirmed by typical imaging findings. Treatment may include conservative measures, anticoagulation, endovascular or even surgical options. We report the case of a 20-year-old female who presented with cardiac arrest caused by an acute massive PE...

BACKGROUND: Transcatheter closure of the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in premature infants is currently dependent on fluoroscopic guidance and transportation to the catheterization laboratory. AIM: We describe a new echocardiographically guided technique to allow our team to move to the bedside at the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of the referring center for percutaneous treatment of PDA in premature infants. METHODS: This is a single-center, retrospective, primarily descriptive analysis...

A tuberculous aneurysm is an uncommon extrapulmonary tuberculosis and is usually fatal. The best way to treat it involves a combination of open surgery and medical treatment. However, it can be challenging to diagnose a tuberculous aneurysm. In this report, we describe a patient with a tuberculous aneurysm who was treated with stent-graft replacement and CT-guided biopsy for diagnosis, followed by nine months of anti-tuberculosis therapy. Despite one week of anti-tuberculous therapy, her fever persisted. A CT scan revealed new, well-defined nodules measuring 1-2mm in the lungs and hepatomegaly, indicating complications of miliary tuberculosis...

BACKGROUND: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage using electrocautery-enhanced (ECE) delivery of lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) is gradually being recognized as a viable palliative technique for malignant biliary obstruction after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) failure. However, most of the studies that have assessed its efficacy and safety were small and heterogeneous. Prior meta-analyses of six or fewer studies that were published 2 years ago were therefore underpowered to yield convincing evidence...

A 31-year-old woman with transposition of the great arteries status post-Senning operation presents with severe pulmonary venous baffle obstruction. Both standards of care (percutaneous stenting or open repair) were deemed suboptimal and/or high risk. A multidisciplinary, hybrid approach via subxiphoid incision, guided by 3-dimensional modeling, provided a lower risk and minimally invasive intervention.

Brachial artery pseudoaneurysms are a rare entity, which can occur secondary to infectious, traumatic, or iatrogenic causes. She had previously undergone numerous fistulograms and endovascular interventions for right upper extremity swelling due to prolonged bleeding following dialysis. Oesophageal perforation (OP) is a life-threatening condition and refers to a tear or disruption in the oesophageal wall. It is considered a medical emergency due to its significant implications, often related to its various causes, such as iatrogenic perforation during endoscopy, Boerhaave syndrome, traumatic injury, foreign body ingestion, and tumour perforation. Early interventions, diagnosis, and a thorough physical examination are essential for better clinical outcomes. Diagnostic procedures and imaging techniques, play a crucial role in confirming OP...

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: Renal transplantation is the treatment for end stage renal disease that offers better quality of life and survival. Among the possible complications that might affect allografts, urolithiasis might have severe consequences, causing acute kidney injury(AKI) or septic events in immunocompromised patients. Allograft stones might be treated with percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL). The aim of this Cochrane style review was to assess the safety and efficacy of PCNL in patients with renal transplant...
