Alginate micro beads containing Lactobacillus kefiri (the principal bacteria present in the kefir probiotic drink) were produced by a novel technique based on dual aerosols spaying of alginate based solution and CaCl2 as cross linking agent. Bone substitute materials with a controlled drug release ability can fill cavities caused by the resection of bone tumours and thereby combat any leftover bone cancer cells. In this work, a new benzothiazole based mitochondrial tracker, Bth-Mito, is synthesized by with 2-benzothiazoleacetonitrile and 4-(diethylamino)-benzaldehyde. Bth-Mito is weakly fluorescent when dissolved in the good solvent but becomes highly emissive in poor solvents, showing a phenomenon of aggregation-induced emission. Bth-Mito shows the greatest potentials for bioimaging applications in view of low cytotoxicity and high photostability.
