The preparation of cobalt-based nanozymes with high oxidase-like activity still needs more efforts. In this paper, we report the synthesis of a CoO/Co-tryptophan-functional graphene quantum dot hybrid (CoO/Co-Try-GQD). Firstly, cobalt ions coordinate with the indole nitrogen on Try-GQD to form a complex, followed by thermal reduction and oxidation. The resulting hybrid presents a three-dimensional network structure, and CoO/Co nanoparticles are uniformly dispersed on the graphene sheet with an average size of 10 ± 0...

A fast, simple, and selective colorimetric assay for quantifying cypermethrin in water samples is proposed using l-cysteine functionalized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs@Cyst). Cypermethrin is hydrolyzed by potassium hydroxide to obtain hydrolyzed cypermethrin in the form of 3-phenoxybenzaldehyde by-product (HCy). The detection strategy is based on the aggregation of AuNPs@Cyst caused by hydrogen-bonding recognition between the aldehyde group of HCy and the amine group of l-cysteine on the surface of AuNPs@Cyst...

A miniature L-glutamate (L-Glu) biosensor is described based on Prussian blue (PB) modification with improved stability by using self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) technology and polydopamine (PDA). A gold microelectrode (AuME) was immersed in NH2 (CH2 )6 SH-ethanol solution, forming well-defined SAMs via thiol-gold bonding chemistry which increased the number of deposited Prussian blue nanoparticles (PBNPs) and confined them tightly on the AuME surface. Then, dopamine solution was dropped onto the PBNPs surface and self-polymerized into PDA to protect the PB structure from destruction...

The article discusses the removal of methylene blue (MB) dye, a common cationic dye used in the textile industry, from aqueous solutions through an adsorption process. The use of porous components as adsorbents are shown to facilitate complete separation after the process is completed. The substrate was synthesized by connecting zinc copper ferrite (ZnCuFe2 O4 ), polyethyleneimine (PEI), and Graphene Oxide (GO) sheets to MCM-48, which is a mesoporous material. The surface of MCM-48 was modified using CPTMS, which created an O-Si-Cl bridge, thereby improving the adsorption rate...

The activation of proinflammatory M1-type macrophages in the injured lesion accelerates the progression of a spinal cord injury (SCI). However, adverse side effects during systemic treatments targeting M1 macrophages have limited their applications. Nanoplatforms are novel carriers of traditional Chinese medicine because of their great efficiency to deliver and accumulation in the lesion. Herein, we synthesized a modified zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) nanoplatform for internalization and accumulation in the injured spinal cord and effective administration for SCI...

Employing a plasmonic decoupling mechanism, we report the design of a colorimetric pressure sensor that can respond to applied pressure with instant color changes. The sensor consists of a thin film of stacked uniform resorcinol-formaldehyde nanoshells with their inner surfaces functionalized with silver nanoparticles. Upon compression, the flexible polymer nanoshells expand laterally, inducing plasmonic decoupling between neighboring silver nanoparticles and a subsequent blue-shift. The initial color of the sensor is determined by the extent of plasmonic coupling, which can be controlled by tuning the interparticle distance through a seeded growth process...

Single-particle tracking (SPT) is a powerful technique to unveil molecular behaviors crucial to the understanding of many biological processes, but it is limited by factors such as probe photostability and spectral orthogonality. To overcome these limitations, we develop upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs), which are photostable over several hours at the single-particle level, enabling long-term multicolor SPT. We investigate the brightness of core-shell UCNPs as a function of inert shell thickness to minimize particle size while maintaining sufficient signal for SPT...

In this paper, a label-free electrochemical immunosensor for sensitive detection of prostate antigen (PSA) was developed based on a NiFe PBA/AuNPs composite. The prostate antigen antibody was immobilized and the immunosensor was constructed by using a glassy carbon electrode modified with a nanocomposite consisting of nickel-iron Prussian blue analog (NiFe PBA) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Due to the good biological affinity of AuNPs for biomolecules, as well as the porous nanostructure and regular shape of NiFe PBA, NiFe PBA/AuNPs nanocomposites significantly improve the electron transport rate, while achieving excellent performance for the sensor...
