It is often associated with neurological symptoms. The aim of this study was to obtain an insight into this malformation, and prevalence in the North East region of the Romanian population. Background: Barriers in the built environment, enduring stereotypes and biases, and limited disability competency of health care providers compromise access to and quality of reproductive health care for women with physical disabilities. One way to improve our understanding of critical factors that drive reproductive health inequity and its impact on access to care is to use patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) that capture relevant and meaningful information about experience. In this study, we developed a conceptual framework as the foundation for relevant and clinically meaningful patient-reported outcome measures targeting the interface of disability and reproductive health...

BACKGROUND: Medical emergency departments (MED) are under increasing pressure in the UK with suggestions that unnecessary attendances to MED, which may include dental problems, are to blame. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this cross-sectional study was to examine the period prevalence of under 16-year-olds attendance to medical emergency departments (MED) with oral and dental problems over a 5-year period and investigate reason for attendance. This cross-sectional study was carried out as part of a service evaluation at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust...

BACKGROUND: Congenital rib abnormalities are found in approximately 2% of the general population. Usually, they occur in isolation and are rarely symptomatic, but they can also be associated with other malformations. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We reviewed imaging examinations performed over a period of 2 years (2014-2015), enabling us to identify isolated rib abnormalities in 6 adult patients. RESULTS: The case series consisted in 3 cases with bilateral cervical ribs and 1 case each with bifid rib, costal fusion and rib pseudarthrosis...

Over the last 20 years, a paternalistic view in health care has been losing ground. The question about less asymmetrical positions in the healthcare professional-patient relationship is, for example, being addressed by the increased emphasis on person-centred care, promoted in disciplines such as medicine and nursing. Partnership is considered as a key component in person-centred care. Although the previous studies have addressed the attributes inherent in partnership, there is still potential for further discussion on how the various interpretations of partnership influence their use in healthcare literature...

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence of residual pain, outcomes, and the revision rate of arthroscopic proximal biceps tenodesis high in the groove at the articular margin of the humeral head by interference screw fixation. METHODS: Seven surgeons pooled data on patients who underwent an arthroscopic biceps tenodesis at the articular margin by interference screw fixation. All patients had a minimum of 50 weeks' follow-up. Preoperative and postoperative patient data including visual analog scale scores (obtained by all surgeons), objective shoulder scores (Simple Shoulder Test and University of California, Los Angeles scores obtained by 2 and 4 surgeons, respectively), and need for revision surgery (obtained by all surgeons) were retrospectively analyzed, the results are reported, and statistical analysis was performed...

Aging is associated with polymorbidity and polypharmacy. In the absence of a consensual definition, polypharmacy has been defined according to the number of drugs that an individual takes or to the presence of the risk of at least one severe drug interaction. In older cancer patients, polypharmacy is at least as common as it is in individuals of the same age without cancer. The management of cancer itself may result in the addition of more medications to counteract the adverse effects of antineoplastic treatment...

AIM: The HIV infected population in Romania is at an age when engaging in a serious relationship is more and more an issue. Dyadic adjustment is the process which most couples go through, in their attempt to form a steady relationship. It is represented by important changes that appear in one's perception of himself and the significant other. Dyadic adjustment can be measured by a series of parameters--couple's satisfaction, couple's consensus, couple's cohesion and expressing emotions...

The purposes of this study were to assess (a) the critically ill patient's and critical care nurse's identification and perception of special care needs and (b) the relationship between the patient's and nurse's perception of the identified special care needs. A qualitative approach, using linked data and open-ended surveys, was used to identify common themes and patterns in data. Data collection took place over a 2-month period at a metropolitan research hospital in the Southeast. Common themes and patterns of identified special care needs were recognized across data and with linked data between the patient and nurse...
