Ground-glass nodule (GGN) lung cancer often progresses slowly in clinical and there are few clinical studies on long-term follow-up of patients with operable GGN lung cancer treated with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). We present a successful case of GGN lung cancer treated with SBRT, but a new GGN was found in the lung adjacent to the SBRT target during follow-up. The nodule progressed rapidly and was confirmed as lung adenocarcinoma by surgical resection. No significant risk factors and related driving genes were found in molecular pathological findings and genetic tests...

PURPOSE: To determine the value of intrapulmonary concomitant lesions in differentiating non-neoplastic and neoplastic ground-glass nodules (GGNs). PATIENTS AND METHODS: From January 2014 to March 2022, 395 and 583 patients with confirmed non-neoplastic and neoplastic GGNs were retrospectively enrolled. Their clinical and chest CT data were evaluated. The CT features of target GGNs and intrapulmonary concomitant lesions in these two groups were analyzed and compared, and the role of intrapulmonary concomitant lesions in improving differentiation was evaluated...

INTRODUCTION: The increased use of cross-sectional imaging frequently identifies a growing number of lung nodules that require follow-up imaging studies and physician consultations. We report here the frequency of finding a ground-glass nodule (GGN) or semisolid lung lesion (SSL) in the past decade within a large academic health system. METHODS: A radiology system database review was performed on all outpatient adult chest computed tomography (CT) scans between 2013 and 2022...

Nanoplastics have been demonstrated to be reproductively toxic to mammal. However, the mechanisms of nanoplastics induce reproductive damage in mammals, especially their effects on spermatogenesis, remain elusive. Herein, we explored the effects and underlying mechanisms of polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NPs) on the testicular development of male mice after 28 days of exposure, representing the first systematic study of PS-NPs-induced male reproductive injury by integrating histomorphology, transcriptomics and proteomics...

tRNA superwobbling, used by certain bacteria and organelles, is an intriguing decoding concept in which a single tRNA isoacceptor is used to decode all synonymous codons of a four-fold degenerate codon box. While Escherichia coli relies on three tRNAGly isoacceptors to decode the four glycine codons (GGN), Mycoplasma mycoides requires only a single tRNAGly. Both organisms express tRNAGly with the anticodon UCC, which are remarkably similar in sequence but different in their decoding ability. By systematically introducing mutations and altering the number and type of tRNA modifications using chemically synthesized tRNAs, we elucidated the contribution of individual nucleotides and chemical groups to decoding by the E...

Minute pulmonary meningothelial-like nodules (MPMNs) are benign lesions characterized by the appearance of ground-glass nodules (GGN) on computed tomography (CT). In the present case, an MPMN gradually developed into a substantial component during chest CT follow-up, and the GGN gradually transformed into a part-solid nodule. The imaging course described in this case is quite unique. Such CT images are characteristic of malignant tumours, especially, highly differentiated adenocarcinomas, which are difficult to differentiate preoperatively...

Multiple primary lung cancers (MPLCs) are becoming more and more common and these patients can benefit from minimally invasive surgery. Here, we report a case of a patient diagnosed with synchronous MPLCs who underwent bilateral thoracoscopic pulmonary resections in a two-stage strategy, and achieved a good surgical outcome and high quality of life. A 66-year-old female was found to have one major ground-glass nodule (GGN) in the right upper lobe and eight minor GGNs in the left upper and lower lobes. The patient underwent right upper lobe resection and systematic mediastinal lymph node dissection via single-utility port thoracoscopic surgery in September 2018...

METHODS: Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA) with simultaneous T cell receptor (TCR) sequencing on 5 normal lung tissues, 3 precancerous and 4 early-stage LUAD manifested as pulmonary ground-glass nodules (GGNs) were performed. Introduction: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most prevalent lung cancer. LUAD presents as ground glass nodules (GGN) and solid nodules (SN) in imaging studies. GGN is an early type of LUAD with good prognosis. However, SN exhibits a more malignant behavior than GGN, including worse pathological staging and tumor prognosis. The mechanism leading to the different malignancy levels of GGN and SN remains elusive. Methods: Three patients with GGN and three patients with SN diagnosed with early LUAD were enrolled...

Non-invasive early detection and differentiation grading of lung adenocarcinoma using computed tomography (CT) images are clinically important for both clinicians and patients, including determining the extent of lung resection. However, these are difficult to accomplish using preoperative images, with CT-based diagnoses often being different from postoperative pathologic diagnoses. In this study, we proposed an integrated detection and classification algorithm (IDCal) for diagnosing ground-glass opacity nodules (GGN) using CT images and other patient informatics, and compared its performance with that of other diagnostic modalities...

However, they both manifest as identical ground-glass nodules (GGNs) in computed tomography images, and no effective method exists to discriminate them.
