Objective: To investigate the clinical and genetic characteristics of 5 pedigrees of Gitelman syndrome (GS), and summarize its advances in genetics, diagnosis and management. Methods: Five families with GS were identified and total genome DNA were extracted from the peripheral blood of all the family members. Spherulites are onion-like structures composed of phospholipids and excipients. Initially discovered in an academic laboratory, these autoassembled nano-objects have been developed further by the start-up Capsulis (Bordeaux, France), and commercialized for veterinary and dermatological applications. Owing to economical strategies, the development of these objects have not been pursued, however, they are very interesting systems, which should be exploited further. We report the surface-mediated polymerization of FtsZ protein, the prokaryote homologue of tubulin, by AFM. FtsZ protein can form filaments on mica whereas the bulk FtsZ concentration is orders of magnitude lower than the critical concentration. Surface polymerization is favored by a local increase in protein concentration and requires a high mobility of proteins on the surface. To generalize to other cytoskeleton protein, we also show that mica can initiate the formation of tubulin protofilaments. The expression of a fusion protein formed between the avian infectious bronchitis virus M protein and the bacterial enzyme beta-glucuronidase (GUS) in plants promotes the formation of new organization of the endoplasmic reticulum in tobacco plants. Genomic DNA sequence analysis of phytochrome like photoreceptors in a number of bacteria revealed several open reading frames (ORFs) encoding proteins with amino acid sequences homologous to plant phytochromes.
